We stumbled upon this small, home-style izakaya by chance, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable dining experiences of our trip. The entire place is run by a senior lady who does everything on her own—from taking orders to cooking, serving, and even handling the bill. Truly impressive to watch her energy, efficiency, and dedication.Despite being a small setup, everything was served with warmth. What amazed us even more was the value—we spent less than ¥7000 in total for 5 people, including a large jug of beer. An absolute hidden gem and a wonderful glimpse into genuine local hospitality. Highly recommended if you’re lucky enough to find it.
Incredible experience. The food is all made by one Japanese lady and is very authentic. Very small but cozy restaurant. It was easily the best meal of the trip. We ended up overstaying our welcome past 8 pm, and instead of ushering us out, they happily made more food for us, and the bill at the end of it was astonishingly low. We thought it was a mistake. They would not accept a tip despite us persisting. This is a one of a kind stop.
Simple. Good. Food. Saw the reviews, had to try it. Wasn't disappointed, was very impressed. This restaurant definetely exceeded our expectations. It was a small place, run by an nice old lady. She cleaned, cooked and served, all done amazingly. Maybe it was us being hungry, but the simple dishes whipped up quite an appetite. Highly recommend the peppers and pork belly dish. What a combo. Would definitely return.
What a unique and heartwarming memory from our trip! We stumbled upon this cozy little restaurant run entirely by a lovely old lady who cooks, serves, and does everything herself. Service is slow but intentional, as each dish is freshly prepared with care, and the food tastes incredible. The portions are generous. We ordered karaage, fried tofu with mushrooms (a must-try, I never knew tofu could taste this smooth and fragrant, perfectly seasoned with soy sauce), yakiudon, and yakisoba. We were so full by the end and couldn’t even finish the yakisoba. Each dish came out one by one, cooked fresh by grandma herself. At the end of the meal, she surprised us with a plate of sweet, refreshing grapes. When we stepped outside, her adorable cats came to greet us, and we spent a while under the full moon petting them with grandma.Even though we didn’t share the same language, it was such a warm and genuine experience. Please come support grandma and her amazing home-cooked food!
Absolutely delightful experience at this local eatery, each dish was made to order and cooked to perfection.Despite all the amazing dishes, the fried tofu stands out with its crispy caramelised skin, yet preserving the soft delicate flavour of the tofu. Udon noodles and karage were instantly devoured as well. The gem of this establishment is the owner, a kind hearted grandma who makes the effort to ensure each and every guest is comfortable. Despite the language barrier, we had a lot of fun conversing while playing with the cats that she fostered.Although a bit further from the main town of Toya, the journey here is definitely worth it!
Cash only. Sharing a table. No air conditioning. Small capacity. So earlier is better. Recommendations is any deep fry.You can take home leftovers. Beer is draft.
Cash only.

Home style cooking with a precise finish and heartwarming flavour - we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. Guten Tag, German for hello, is also ironically where we were served the most crisp beer in all of Hokkaido! The lady running the restaurant is incredibly sweet and kind but don't be fooled - her food is all business! The chicken karaage was perfectly fried - crispy yet juicy and mildly seasoned, which was towards our preference as often times it's too salty. The pork jowl and green pepper stir fry was tender and tasty. The agedashi tofu was light and the dashi was wonderfully balanced.Luckily we arrived early and had the shopkeeper largely to ourselves so our food was prepared perfectly and the pacing was great; however, there is signage that advises at times service can be a little slow. If this is the case for you, show some grace as she is only one person running the entire shop!
