We stayed here and it was absolutely stunning! The guesthouse is beautiful and cozy, surrounded by trees, and the area is just gorgeous. It was a real piece of serenity. Absolutely would recommend! Amazing host as well and communication in English is no problem!
We had a wonderful time at Deep Gorge Pottery. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing, and our instructor was amazing, she spoke perfect English, so communication was super easy. It was our first time working with clay, and she guided us step by step with patience and kindness. We both loved the experience and left with three beautiful handmade mugs and great memories!
We spent one night at the lovely guest house tucked in the forest and participated in a pottery workshop. We'd only done wheel-spun pottery once before so we weren't very confident in our abilities but Hiroko was such a fantastic teacher. She was so patient and explained things in an easily understandable way for beginners - the 2 hours ended up going so fast and were a lot of fun.The guest house was the perfect spot to unwind amongst nature. It was especially a nice, cool haven in summer. We really liked that all the crockery were pieces made in Hiroko's studio - it was a very fitting and unique touch.
In the midst of tranquil Tsumagoi Village, this peaceful forest cabin was a dream.Service: A warm welcome from the host and thoughtful touches like complimentary coffee, tea, and spring water.Ambience: Lush greenery, birdsong, a wood-burning stove, artisanal pottery, and a simple yet cozy wooden interior.Next time I’ll join the pottery workshop—thank you!静かな北軽井沢・嬬恋村の森に佇む一棟貸しロッジ。ホストの温かなお迎えに癒されました。鳥のさえずりと木の温もり、薪ストーブ、そして陶芸家の手仕事の器が映える空間。無料のコーヒー・紅茶・天然水に、ふかふかの寝具と肌ざわりの良いシーツも嬉しいポイント。次回は陶芸ワークショップに参加したいです。ありがとうございました！

Had the best stay there with Deep Gorge! I was exploring Japan, and found Tokyo to be quite busy, and wanted to find an easy getaway that was accessible and tranquil. The host is very accommodating and speaks perfect English, and she was responsive with our communication upon our arrival time/departure.The environment is just fantastic. The clean air, the birds, the trees, the stars at night, it was everything we wanted with the fire stove to warm up the space with all the art piece ceramics that were provided for us to use during our stay.The workshop the next day was very personal, very happy with the whole experience in making our original pieces as we were very interested in Japanese ceramics overall even before our stay. We received our pieces safely after the host perfectly prepared it in her stove, it was such a delight to receive our handmade pieces :)This place is private, personal, warm and a caring experience that you would not get in a urban big hotel chain. It's premium and still making you feel at home with the excellent host service provided.I recommend 100%, and its one of those places I'd want to keep to myself rather than to share with noisy bad mannered tourists. Top notch experience. Would love to come back again, and I think its a perfect destination also for people with children, trip with friends, and a romantic getaway for couples.
