From the attention to details in the service to the quality of each dish you can tell how passionate chef and staff are about their food. Truly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had! Even better than most Michelin restaurants in the states. You really get your money’s worth. My favorite part was being able to interact with the chef and hostess. They were so kind and I felt the Japanese hospitality! I left so full, so satisfied, and so happy! I cannot wait to come back again :)
I came across this restaurant by chance without a reservation, and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. The food was beautifully prepared, delicate, and full of flavor — every dish showed great care and attention to detail.What truly made the experience special was the service. The lady was incredibly kind and welcoming; she even handmade origami for us, which made us feel genuinely warm and at home in Kyoto. It’s these small, thoughtful gestures that leave a lasting impression.If I had one small regret, it would be not upgrading the rice to sushi. The rice felt a little simple for me when paired with miso soup. We also should have ordered sake, which would have complemented the food even better.Overall, a memorable dining experience for both the cuisine and the heartfelt hospitality. Highly recommended.
If you're looking to try keiseki whilst in Kyoto, I highly recommend dining here. The food was so fresh and expertly prepared, I've never had anything like it. Each course was so thoughtfully crafted and arranged, it was a beautiful experience from beginning to end. On top of this, the staff were so kind and professional. Our server handcrafted Christmas themed origami which had the menu on it and matched each of our outfits! It was such a heartwarming added touch that really demonstrated the care and attention to detail of the staff.We will 100% be visiting again the next time we are in Seoul.
We had a phenomenal experience, this resturant was opened last year on Dec and we were lucky to find it. The server was sweet and patient, explaining every detail of each course and answering our questions on top of it the food was phenomenal, both in presentation and taste. We tried so many things and the combinations of flavors were exceptional. Each piece made for perfection with love and attention - Japanese wagyu, Uni, Sashimi and much more.Adding images as no words can describe the beauty and aesthetic of the plates.
First time ever I post a review online, I usually leave notes or do reviews in person, but OMG, We stumbled upon it by chance to celebrate my special pre-birthday dinner, and I immediately felt as if they were already waiting for me with the perfect meal for the occasion. Hiroko makes you feelher most special guest, yet at the same time, she maintains all the etiquette and elegance of an authentic Japanese restaurant. She is both warm and professional.Chef Eiji Yuasa, besides being an extraordinary chef with an artistic flair and incredibly delicious food, makes you feel part of his culture, taking you on a journey you never want to end. Both, he and his team impressed us greatly that we canceled the restaurant we had already booked for the big birthday dinner and returned next day, even without a reservation at 9:00 pm, taking that chance on my birthday, two hours before closing time. I needed the same memorable experience of the day before to celebrate my big bday. They served us spectacular dishes with such care, we were delighted with every single dish and set menus.I'm a foodie, and Gion Mutsuki has been the best restaurant experience of my entire life. We returned because that kind of service and perfect food without being pretentious, I think, very hard to find all in one place. The quality of the ingredients used in this restaurant, the chefs' creativity, their technique, and such an attentive and accommodating hostess make you feel right you are in a retreat for your palate and soul. The attention to detail is exceptional. They made us origami with the menu written inside, matching our outfits.We were the last to leave, and the entire team walked with us to the door until we got into the taxi, wishing us a safe trip home.I don't usually do this, but I had to ask the chef for his autograph, he's a master. This restaurant deserves three Michelin stars. I can't wait to visit Kyoto again and this restaurant is the main reason.

とても美味しかったです!!特に、天ぷらの衣がサクサクしていて美味しかったのと、林煮物のゆずの風味がとても素晴らしかったです。私達がその時来ていた服の色の折り紙で蛙と兎も作ってくださり、プレゼントしてくださいました。素敵な出会いをありがとうございました。京都に旅行に来た際にはまた立ち寄らせていただきます!!
新しいお店の様で店内木の香りがしてました。カンター席の店内8名で当日予約にも関わらず受け入れて下さいました。板前2人なのでメニューは全部同じでお願いしますとのこと。肉も魚も入っているメニューにしました。子供が4名大人4名。先に2名の中国人のお客様がいましたが、その後は私達だけの貸切になりました。後に5名程度の方が来ましたが断っておりました。中居さんも丁寧な女性で、子供に気を遣って下さいました。一点一点、温かいものはすぐに、目の前で出来上がり、すぐに頂けて大変美味しかったです。普段はお酒を飲みませんが、気分よく地酒をペアリングして頂きました。最後の方で板前さんの余裕が出てきたところで、普段は会話しながらやりますが、本日は8名様同時だったので時間がありませんでした。と。普段は料理の説明は翻訳機を使い会話をしているみたいです。ほとんど外国人のお客様だと言ってました。久々に日本語です、と。器も素敵でした。以前は焼肉屋さんだった様で、その時の情報でくる方もいらっしゃる様ですが、和食懐石です。お出汁もthe 京都といった感じで、偶々見つけたお店ですが大満足です。メニューは英語もありました。みなさん大変親切で、お見送りまでして下さいました。また機会があれば行きたいです。子供には難しいメニューでした。唯一お肉と魚は美味しかったようです😊
2025年7月25日にこのレストランを訪れました。すべてがとても美味しく、盛り付けも美しく、スタッフの対応は丁寧で親切でした。料理には地域色が表れており、多くの食材が京都産だった点も印象的でした。さらに、季節感がメニュー全体に反映されていたのも良かったです。ぜひ皆さんにこのレストランをおすすめします。友人や知人にもぜひ紹介したいです。改めてありがとうございました!😊On July 25, 2025 I visited this restaurant. Everything was extremely delicious. The presentation was beautiful, and the staff were attentive and friendly. I also appreciated that the dishes reflected the local character of the region — many ingredients were sourced from Kyoto. In addition, the theme of seasonality was evident throughout the menu. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, and I will definitely be telling my friends and acquaintances about it. Thank you once again!😊

We had a wonderful evening here and can highly recommend it. Sitting at the counter by the open kitchen made the experience feel very personal and engaging—you can watch every detail come together in a calm, modern setting.The team was exceptionally attentive and genuinely eager to explain each course. They even used a translator/voice app so nothing got lost, which made us feel very welcomed. The set menu was beautifully paced and paired perfectly with Japanese beer and other drinks.What really stood out were the thoughtful touches: the way the menu was presented, the warm, almost family-like atmosphere, and the lovely origami art to take home. If you arrive early enough, it’s also possible to get a seat even without a reservation. A truly memorable dining experience in Kyoto.
