I’ve done this experience together with my boyfriend and it was amazing.We had a great time, the customer service from personnel was outstanding and they let me even choose the color of the kimono I would wear.The lady that did the tea ceremony with us, I believe her name was Yuki, she was very nice and cared about each one of us comfort, most of all she explained to us the history of matcha tea and what the ceremony means.She afterwards offered to take pictures too.I would 100% repeat this experience and we will for sure remember this day forever 🥰 thank you for your work 🙏🏼

It was the perfect blend of cultural immersion, hospitality, and unforgettable memories. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Kyoto and looking for a meaningful introduction to Japanese traditions.
We booked the tea ceremony and Kimono dressing experience. I am tall and plus size in the US ( 5’5” and 185lbs) so I was worried the sizes wouldn’t work for me regarding the kimono; but I am happy to report they did fit me, they treated me the same as all the other ladies, and I felt beautiful.The staff that helps you dress are efficient, fast and very professional. You get to choose the kimono, the belt, 2 flowers and a hairstyle. They do your hair but not your makeup, I recommend coming with your makeup done and be careful while dressing.The tea ceremony was very special, we were guided with respect and honoring traditions. You are given a Japanese sweet and matcha to prepare. You are later able to take pictures in the tea room.My only recommendation is booking the early ceremony so you can have more time with the kimono. (It has to be returned before 6pm)Overall the service, atmosphere, and excellence of the staff make Nishiki Orizuruya a wonderful place for this experience. Would highly recommend you make your reservations when coming to Kyoto.
Cannot recommend this place enough!!! Absolutely amazing experience, very knowledgeable staff, very friendly and welcoming employees, we especially loved our calligraphy class with Luna! She was so nice and very good at explaining the steps. We loved the tea ceremony and loved getting dressed up in the kimonos. Thank you for a wonderful time!!!
This was an excellent experience that you cannot miss for its authenticity alone.The kimono+tea ceremony package has many special moments. They provide a bag for your clothes (you are given a ticket to reclaim everything) and escort you to a dressing area to put on undergarments(loose top/shorts), choose a kimono and sit to have your hair done in the traditional way. I loved that you got to pick flowers & hair ornaments, which made me a little nervous at first due to my hair texture but the ladies had zero issues.There was a photographer who took many pictures that I later received via email. The actual tea ceremony itself is very meticulous but each step was explained as we also got to make out own matcha.Everyone was so nice and accommodating. There is a restroom onsite and the place is just in the middle of the popular Nishiki Market as well. Don't hesitate to book this experience!
訪れてはいませんが書道の体験やら茶道の体験は素晴らしいと思います。動画の映像で書道も入れたらと思います。また私の書道入門であった自分で書く時にセンタラインや全体のバランスを清書の下にもう一枚墨で書き入れた紙を引いた上で清書に半紙をおいた方が初心者にはよりバランスの取れた書体が書けるのではないかと想定できます。書道50年以上の経験と師範級の経験からです。海外英国にて書を親しむ者ですが御茶は一保堂だけで済ましており年間６万円ほど愛好する者ですが英国にて日本造園技法を勉強して１２坪程の京都風の庭園を30年掛けて作成、落ち着いた奥行ある庭園、木々などは種より育てました。一保堂本店茶室に行きますと私のつたない5文字俳がみられます。 貴店の今後の発展を期待しつつコメント送ります。東京の学書院通信教育生徒。在英39年目。我が家庭は私の顔写真をクリックして動画を選んで。25年掛けて作った門下ぶりーの枝が見事な庭です。
Dis the Kimono & tea ceremony with my sister, it was absolutely amazing, the staff was very attentive, helped us choose the kimonos (as there are so so so many options to chose from) they did our hair really beautifully;The tea ceremony was calming and very informative. We then got to eat the sweet that was provided and make our own Matcha tea, very wholesome.They took pictures of us, and we got sent 3 pictures, although we did not get to choose the pictures they sent, they turned out amazing anyway.To our surprise we got to keep the Kimono until 18:00 (6pm) - we thought it was just for the tea ceremony.I would recommend this experience over simply renting a kimono, as it’s more of a complete and immersive experience

Fantastic experience! All of the staff were so lovely and made the experience very comfortable and enjoyable! The tea ceremony was amazing. We had Sakura leading the ceremony, she was very friendly, taught us lots and was happy to answer all of our questions! The calligraphy is also definitely worth trying, our teacher was very helpful in correcting our strokes and teaching us the techniques. She made it look so effortless, and kept complimenting our attempts, even though I know ours weren’t that good 😂. The women who helped dress us in our kimonos and did our hair were so nice! They were very efficient, but made sure that we were comfortable and happy with how we looked. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this place!
