Nakamura-san embodies what Airbnb hosting should be. He makes you feel like a local, not a tourist. The home is beautiful, renovated by Nakamura-san and his daughter, with high-quality workmanship and thoughtful details. There are four separate spaces to lounge (not counting the bedroom), and the amenities made our five-night stay extra comfortable: towels plus an onsen basket, water, and coffee. The property was easy to find and a great base for driving to Kirishima or Kagoshima. Next door is an excellent bakery that is packed with locals each morning for fresh bread. Most of all, Nakamura-san was incredibly kind and proactive. He helped with a dinner reservation, horseback riding, and even concert tickets in another city. Japanese ticketing is not simple, yet he immediately stepped in and even drove with us to FamilyMart to make sure we could pay. We are so glad we stayed at Itsuka and met Nakamura-san. We will absolutely be back.
