Pros: The host was great! He was very kind to us on our arrival. Gave us a quick tour, showed us our rooms and brought us an extra towel as he had forgot one. He also told us some recommendations around the area.Getting to talk with others was nice as well. We talked with 2 nice solo travelers and another couple. We also exchanged good places we've been to.2F bathroom and shower was nice and spacious. Laundry was only ¥100, we used our balcony to dry our clothes.Cooking in the kitchen was easy. He had a gas stove, and we used a pan to cook some Ramen. Soap and sponge was on the counter for cleanup.Cons: We had a private room which was at the 3F across from a dormitory. The stairs were very creaky so it was hard to stay quiet if up late or early. The top bathroom was pretty small for me (6'1), so it was hard to pull up and down my pants when using the bathroom. The top shower was also a tad odd as you had to put your clothes outside and above the shower in order to not get them wet. There was only a curtain to block the view when opening the shower and it had a slight crack towards our room.We also didn't like the area around the Tsuruhashi train station it gave is a bit of a bad vibe at first but we ended up not minding it.
The owner (Sonik) is the best! So helpful, respectful, and hard-working. He cleans the whole hostel every day! I enjoyed many good conversations with him, and also with some of the other guests. Accomodations are basic but for the price you wont find anything better. Book it right now if you want a cheap place to stay that feels like coming home! The train station is a little far away (10 min), but the location in Koreatown is super nice!
Lovely place! Very clean and organized. Sonik is an amazing host. I had a lovely time here and would definitely recommend it for anyone staying in Osaka. The place is a 10min walk from the nearest station and walking to the place itself is an interesting walk with a view of the local neighbourhood.
It will be hard to find kinder hosts than Sonik-san arround. And harder to beat the amazing price this place has.The neighborhood is very interesting, because it's Korean town, in the middle of japan. With food, kpop, and pyonechon products all over. It's 10-15 minutes walking to Momodani or Tsuruhashi stations. Both very well connected to do Nara, or city center or Kyoto. The house is always pristine because you'll see Sonik-san taking care of everything every morning. You'll get to know an assortment of amazing world wide people. I stayed more or less 10 days in here and i think i saw AT LEAST people from 10 different countries.Internet works great if you need it for work as me. The kitchen has everything you need to make your own food or share meals. There is shared fridge, mini oven, microwave, boiler, clean water, stove, and about everything you need to feel like you're right home. The beds are bunks with a japanese style futon in them. I personally like it but i understand if some people find it uncomfortable. The rooms all have working air conditioner as well as the kitchen.Shared shower, toilet and vanity mirror. There is a washing machine you can use for a very cheap price (at my time staying was 100yen)ps: Sonik-san can speak english perfectly as well as Japanese and Korean. So don't hesitate on contacting him directly if doing a reservation or making questions about the place. He's a fantastic person.
The problem with Guesthouses is they vary too much based on who's staying. There was someone playing videos loudly at 2am. When kindly asked several times to turn it off they yelled and tried to fight. Saying they had no respect for the host or anyone. Very childish and immature from someone as old as they were.No cops were called and guests had to wait for him to leave on his own.Sonic is very nice and considerate, he's there to make everything as pleasant as possible. But there's only so much that can be done for verbal threats of violence.
I stayed at Guesthouse Wa and Wa for 3 nights. The owner of the guesthouse Sonic, was great, thanks for making check in and communication easy. Overall, we loved our stay here 😊The location was decent, about a 10-15 minute walk to Tsuruhashi station, it depends on how fast you walk, the route you took, and whether you missed any turns. It was a bit challenging to lug a suitcase from the station to the guesthouse so if you have luggage and only taking public transportation, maybe keep that in mind. It's situated in a nice neighborhood in K Town, which has many restaurants and a market during the day. Along the way to the station, you'll find convenience stores like Lawson and Family Mart.I was really happy that they provided a washing machine for self service with 100 yen charge per use!! 🥹 It was incredibly convenient and there was also a balcony to dry our clothes in our private room. The kitchen had everything you needed, including a fridge, kettle, and a table with utensils for eating. I think you can use the stove too but we didn't.We were very comfortable during our time here and highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an affordable stay in Osaka.
Merci encore !

This is Wa N Wa 1. There is another Wa N Wa a little closer to Tsuruhashi Station. Both are located in "Korea Town" of Ōsaka and are run by the same host.If you book a bed via Booking.com, you have two options: You either pay beforehand or you pay when you arrive. It was a lovely experience staying here. The host is very friendly and creates a pleasant atmosphere and the other guests were fun to chat with too. The host speaks korean, english and japanese (and maybe more?) - therefore you don't need to worry about communication at all.I would definitely come back here.At Wa N Wa 1 there are 4 beds in each of the two rooms. Two toilets, two showers, a washing mashine and a fridge in the kitchen. The hallways and stairs are narrow like in most houses here.As for all hostels, I recommend bringing a sleeping mask and earplugs.
