We loved our stay at Riviera Iya Valley. The location is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by mountains and just across the road from the Yoshino River. The guest house is a short walk from the train station and from the grocery stores. The rooms are comfortable and extremely clean. There are refrigerators in the rooms and a common area with cooking facilities.There is so much to do in the area the two days we were there was not enough. The guest house hosts kayaking trips and there are larger boat trips in the gorge just up the road. From Oboke you can take a wonderful drive up the Iya Valley (highly recommended) if you have a car. The vine bridges and scarecrow village are all within about an hour's drive.The host is marvelous and speaks excellent English. The hospitality is just amazing and makes the visit a true delight.
Cycling around Shikoku with my brother. Stayed in this great RIVIERA Iya Valley for two nights. Just express my sincere gratitude to the owner is not enough, who drove to meet us at the station to ensure everything is okay upon our arrival with two bikes due to bad weather. Thanks for looking for my lost watch too. Great hospitality, nice and clean, good location too. Owner speaks fluent English, strongly recommend
I had a great experience staying at this place and did kayaking for the first time. Rooms and equipment were fresh and clean. I really enjoyed Ryuさん lessons and had fun. どうもありがとう！
If you're visiting Iya Valley and you want to spend few hours in the nature in an untypical way, this is absolutely a "must to do" experience. Ryu-san is a kindly and funny guide that will help you in enjoy your tour on Yoshino river. Trust me, no other way to see this place are more worthy than kayaking!Hope to come back!
I recently stayed at this guest house and honestly had such a great time. It is located really close to the train station—just a short walk with nice mountain views along the way.The host - Ryo san was really kind. He picked me up on the first day and even dropped me off at the train station on my last day to make sure I got on my train safely. The room was clean and cozy with a window, and even though the bathroom was shared, it was surprisingly very clean and well maintained. I loved the hot shower and the strong water pressure!I also joined the kayak class, and it was my first time ever trying kayaking. It ended up being so fun—I learned a lot of techniques and really enjoyed being out on the water and seeing all the nature around. It made me want to try kayaking again next time.Highly recommended!
I can't recommend the kayaking experience enough! The Iya Valley speaks for itself and needs no further beautification. Mother Nature obviously showing off again as she often does.The tour itself was exceptional. The guide, Kinoshita-sama, was so kind, present, thoughtful, safety-conscious, and ensured throughout the entire experience we were safe, enjoying the moment, and responding to any questions or concerns (which there were none)! He was hilarious too and really brought the experience to another level! The equipment is very highly maintained, professional, and river-worthy.Kinoshita-sama displayed Japanese Omotenashi at its best :) :)If you're in the area sightseeing, be sure to include this on your travel adventure list. You will not be disappointed and will leave reliving this day.
We did not stay in the rooms. We did the kayaking. Kayaking is great. The Iya Valley is beautiful. The kayaks and the equipment are excellent is quality. Very stable. The guide is superb and adjust the level to the people. The area you can kayak is short, due to some rapids.

Ryu was an excellent and patient kayaking instructor. Made sure we had the necessary knowledge before embarking on some mildly turbulent waters. Very fun and technical experience. Makes me see the waters differently. Would recommend and hoping to do it again one day!
