Es war den kleinen Umweg wert..wir haben es im Anschluss an den Pilgerweg gemacht..keine Touristen! hier. Am Ende geht man durch eine schöne Wohngegend zurück zur Bahn!
Nov 2025: This is the bamboo forest within the Fushimi complex. You need to detour by going down a flight of stairs but this is so easy to miss and there's even a sign that says luck brought you to this place. Nobody was around when I visited.
An alternative to Arashiyama Bamboo forest that is relatively unknown and therefore less crowded yet provides similar ambience. At the entrance of Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, turn right, follow the path for ~200m and turn slight left to follow a path that leads to this place. Look out for signage.
After climbing mount inari we went down through the side path and ended up in this beautiful spot. It was completely empty which gave it a magical feeling. I recommend trying to see it
Affollato ma bello, devi proseguire ed inoltrarti nella foresta per avere quel minimo di magia che il luogo sa dare
The bamboo forest is located around ten minutes away from the starting point of the hike to the top of Fushimi Inari. The Google maps location is accurate and leads you up a slight detour past a set of toilets to this forest. Barely a couple of people were there when I visited. It's a beautiful and peaceful bamboo forest. I have not visited Arashiyama but just from pictures, this one is not as well maintained as Arashiyama. That said it is definitely way less crowded.
🎄A nice bamboo forest right on the way to the main hall. It could be a good stop after walking a quite long distance.🎄If you visit it early morning, you will completely feel the peaceful and less crowded atmosphere in this charming place.
從茶亭下來廁所往命婦女谷一直往前走,滿山的竹園會讓你置身在嵐山一樣個感覺。 人不多非常適合拍照。很值得遠離人群走一下。
One of the best things we did in Kyoto!Shortly after you start the Tori gates, take a sharp turn (there’s a sign for a shrine and bamboo grove), then go past the shrine. It seems like the bamboo groves stop but they’re actually intermittent and keep going for a while. Someone wrote it’s a short section, they must have turned around. You can take this side trail all the way to the top of Inari, and then go through the Tori gates on the way down - it was muchhh less crowded and easier to enjoy, take photos etc versus the way up. Took us 1-1.5h and we went slowly. Mostly a pretty flat trail, towards the top of the mountain there’s some steep climbs with stairs. Lots of beautiful little shrine areas with statues and Tori gates covered in moss, felt so enchanted and out of a Ghibli movie, especially as we pretty much had it to ourselves the whole way.

A perfect place to reflect and imagine bygone times. A place for a beautiful walk admiring the landscape and the energy of the bamboo. There are some parking lots scattered around the city, but be patient as the streets are narrow and most are always full.
