This machiya is amazing!!! Beautifully decorated with so many cool details and amenities. Shout out to Sarah who came to do the tea ceremony so nicely. She was super helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend staying at Yukimi Machiya when in Kyoto for a great local experience!
Lovely time here - highly-recommend! We stayed here as a large family traveling together and could not have been happier. Rooms are impeccably maintained and comfortable, hosts have thought of everything from extra towels to stocked mini-bar to toiletries, etc. Location is incredible - walking distance to many restaurants and coffee shops, quiet neighborhood in traditional surroundings. And hosts could not have been more kind and welcoming -- just fantastic.
We just left there today and HIGHLY recommend! We stayed as a large family in the Yukimi and Akimi rooms, and were incredibly pleased with the accommodations. Hosts have thought of everything from extra towels, to stocked mini-bar with complimentary beverages, to bathroom amenities and on. Extremely comfortable bedrooms and common areas, luxurious bathrooms and outdoor spa in each room. Location is amazing with many restaurants and coffee shops around and walking distance to train stations and many attractions. Perfect place really.
We stayed at Tsukimi (as a couple) for 4 nights.The neighborhood is very beautiful and super quiet. It is a 20 min walk from the Kyoto central station, and approximately 20 min beautiful walks from any central spot of Kyoto (Shimogyo Ward/Gion etc).Neighborhood has plenty hidden gems, if you roam around you will certainly find some very good local restaurants, coffee shops & stores.The machiya is excellent (modern & traditional blended perfectly together) and very spacious (even for a group of 3). It was the perfect space to return to and relax, after 10-hours of walking & exploration in the perfect city of Kyoto.Hosts also offered us free Yukatas to wear for as long as we stayed in the Machiya and welcomed us with a Matcha preparation & casual-drinking ceremony.Fridge was full with beers, water and refreshments.100% recommended.
Located in a quieter neighborhood, this beautiful machiya was a highlight of our stay in Kyoto. You are greeted with a more casual matcha tea ceremony, which our host made more fun by having us participate. The room was beautiful, and a soak in the outside tub at night was a treat after a long day of walking. I was also excited to get access to a Dyson hair dryer. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and healthy. Though the stay is more expensive than the typical hotel, it was worth it for the special experience.
Loved our stay here and would consider again on a return trip! Good size house that felt roomy and comfortable (esp. compared to the miniature rooms in Tokyo) and our location had a beautiful small Japanese garden and outdoor tub. Mini-fridge and microwave were great for storing//making drinks, leftovers and convenience store hauls. Location was also great - very quiet, safe, calm residential neighborhood yet easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and multiple transit options.Our host was also super responsive during the trip and helped us with luggage delivery service (highly recommend if you are doing multiple cities or even just to/from the airport).
とにかくとても綺麗で過ごしやすいお部屋でした。家具や置物など細かいところまでこだわりを感じて、何といっても露天風呂と広い浴室に旅の疲れを癒されました。お部屋の案内はインバウンドにも対応し英語での表記もあり、日本人のみならず海外の方も利用しやすいと思います。お部屋の広さや浴室の設備の面で、お子様連れのファミリーにはかなりおすすめです。周りに気をつかうことなくゆっくり過ごすことができるので、特別な人と利用するのにもピッタリなお宿だと思います。
京町家の風情を生かした、まさに「和モダン」といった素敵なお宿でした。内風呂、露天と２つあり、露天の檜の香りに癒されました。今度は家族連れで利用したいです。

Wow, weve been in Japan for two weeks and this was our last hotel before heading home. Our room was amazing and felt very homey. We all used the private Onson every night. The staff couldn't have been more helpful as well. Day one we did a Macha tea ceremony in our unit. If you're in Kyoto, I highly recommend that Machiya Kamogawa Garden hotel.
