I enjoyed being in this cat cafe not like others I went to because the cats were very active. The staff was nice. And even though it was a bit small there weren’t many cats to make it cramped. And there were free snacks and drinks. 😊
We were seeking an ethical cat rescue experience after hearing about less than favourable cat cafes in larger towns. Maneki Machiya Cat Cafe in Kyoto was just the place. Our host was very knowledgeable with each cat's history, personality and favourite toys. Every single cat looked happy and healthy. It made our visit very happy and fulfilling to see such passion and dedication to a special rescue society. Also included was a snack and drink with the experience.Please support this wonderful company that do so much for the felines of Kyoto.
Super experience; run by competent and dedicated staff; only happy, happy cats here. Should be on the to-see list of any cat lover visiting Kyoto.
The cat café is a wonderful and cozy place to meet the lovely rescues from the Japan Cat Network. All of them are adorable and love to interact with people, willing to play and cuddle (in return for a treat) 🧡 This is not a commercialized café that exploits animals for profit (as can be seen so often in Japan and other countries), but a charity organization that focuses on the wellbeing of these amazing creatures. You need to book in advance, works well via Airbnb. :)
Very good place to get up close with cats. The owner and his colleagues were very friendly, you can tell these rescue cats are very well looked after and have a good home here.
I visited Maneki Machiya ethical cat cafe in Kyoto this afternoon and was very impressed with the work that the delightful lady in charge is doing to help rescue cats and kittens. If you are a cat lover who wishes to help a small charity caring for strays and ferals, while enjoying some quality time with friendly felines, do stop by. It's quite the experience and your donation helps cats in need of food, shelter and veterinary help.
The best part of your Japan trip will be the Maneki Machiya Cat Cafe in Kyoto!!! The cats are so adorable AND ADOPTABLE. Susan and her crew are wonderful as well. You can feel the love there for sure. BEST CAT CAFE EVER!!! 🐈⬛♥️🐈
This is the best cat cafe I’ve ever been to because it’s not just a cafe, it’s a real rescue shelter run by the Japan Cat Network.You visit by appointment only, so the cats don’t get overwhelmed like at other cat cafes. They care about the cats’ mental and physical health, which makes the cats happy, playful, and more adoptable.The space is super clean (they clean 3 time a day and have daily health checks), and surprisingly —no smell. We visited during playtime and had so much fun! Cats were jumping, chasing toys, and even eating treats from our hands. They’re the friendliest, cutest cats — it’s hard not to fall in love with them all.It’s also educational. All the cats are spayed and neutered. And most were rescues of their Trap Neuter Return projects across Japan. You can ask questions and learn about cat rescue, fostering, and care.Highly recommend for animal lovers and anyone thinking about adopting! I ended up adopting 3 kittens from here! I fell in love with them! So, it’s a good way to see if you and a cat are the right personality for each other.
This is one of the best places in Kyoto!An absolute gem that you cannot miss.If you want a fun, relaxing, heartwarming day with beautiful, easygoing and entertaining cats, then this is the place for you.You get to spend 2 hours inside a traditional Japanese home / cat paradise. You will get to enjoy coffee/tea and treats, while playing and cuddling with the cute cats. There is also a treat giving session for the cats which they all go crazy for - you don't want to miss the excitement!Attending an experience here also supports crucial support services for other street cats and helps to get them better lives, find them homes, and helps the community through trap neuter release programs.I cannot recommend this place enough. The owner and staff/volunteers involved are some of the warmest and most kind hearted people you will meet. I will always keep coming back here, it is the most healing place in Kyoto.

Maravilloso lugar, una verdadera experiencia que recomiendo 100%, muy personal y divertida, es un lugar donde puedes convivir con gatos rescatados que estan disponibles para adopcion, ayudar como voluntario o hospedarse en los airbnb. Si eres extranjero y tienes problemas en reservar solo manda un correo y ellos te la hacen, son muy amables y el lugar es muy acogedor. Los gatos son muy amigables y algunos aman que los abraces, ojala todos encuentren un hogar pronto.
