I stayed at the Hilton and spent a lot of evenings here because the owner, Jessie, runs a good place. The cocktails are cheap and delicious. He has a huge selection of whiskey and other liquors so just tell him what you like if you don’t see something on the menu, or if you want to try some better whiskey, and he’ll steer you right. The place is small so reach out after he opens if you have a group. He speak fluent English and Japanese so you’re extremely welcome as a tourist and locals still come. I had my first good night speaking with with Japanese people in Kyoto after about 3 weeks in Japan because I was there. Japanese people are very friendly but Bar Fishbowl is a place where you’re made to feel like you’re welcome and wanted the whole time beyond Japanese hospitality. Even got some recommendations on places to visit while in Kyoto and had a great time.
Great spot. I spent probably 3 hours in here chatting with other patrons and the bartender who was extremely kind, funny, and spoke both English and Japanese fluently. They have a wonderful whiskey selection and just about every mixed drink you can imagine on the menu. If you’re in Kyoto and want to hangout in a cool little bar go check this place out.
What a fun find and a fabulous bar with an overwhelming selection. The owner is a jokester and a story teller who loves to entertain. His selection of all Japanese spirits lets you take a fun adventure exploring flavors. We really enjoyed this accidental find. If you like a large selection of common and rare liquors, this is the bar for you. Do watch your head though. The entry door is low.

マスターが気軽に色々話してくれたし、英語も学ぶことができました！『一人でも気軽にいけるバー』で検索して行きました！マスターが日本語ペラペラの外国人なので、外国人のお客さんも多いそうです！お酒も美味しかったし値段も安かったです！また京都に行ったらここに行きたいな✨
日本語が堪能なマスター。ウィスキーの話しをしながら、楽しい時間を過ごさせて頂きました。因みに喫煙可の様です。
行きつけのバーです。バーテンダー（オーナー）が最高です。
とっても美味しいcocktailと、沢山のクラフトビールがあって、ステキな外国人のバーテンダーさんがいます。英語も日本語もとても上手。居心地のよいステキなBARです。

Absolutely stunning amount of selection. Owner is friendly and really knows his stuff. He can also speak English so if you're visiting Kyoto, dont let the elevator scare you from visiting this unique place.
