I can’t rate this place highly enough. We went as a family of 4 - one 8 year old and a baby - they were so accommodating with the children! They really helped the 8 year old to practice and create a lovely souvenir he’ll treasure, and they made our baby feel so welcome - laying out blankets and toys for her. It was so sweet. We absolutely loved learning Japanese calligraphy and we’d highly recommend the lovely ladies here and this wonderful activity during your visit to Kyoto!
This is a fun, fast, enriching experience that leaves you with new skills, great memories, and an appreciation for Japanese culture to take home.My friends and I came here on a rainy day. It was a perfect indoor activity. We loved getting to choose our own words to write, and the variety of different writing projects they took us through was great. It gave us the chance to perfect our writing, while gaining more valuable goodies to take home.The best part of the experience was the staff. They are so patient, encouraging, and kind. We felt welcomed and excited to keep trying. ありがとございます！楽しかったです！The experience is great value for an affordable price.
We were four adults that had a great experience doing this class. It was an absolute blast!We got to try a lot of calligraphy and talk with the staff. Super interesting experience. And as always with these types of things it is the staff holding the course is what makes the experience memorable. Would definitely recommend.4000yen/person

Very nice workshop to learn calligraphy! We used 2 types of brushes and practiced writing our names and our favorite words ("Mochi"!!) in Kanji, hiragana and Katakana. The teachers are super friendly. And we got some nice souvenirs!Would definitely recommend :)
We had a great time learning how to write in Japanese. We were well guided and the lovely ladies who taught us were very friendly and supportive! Would recommend this class.
I had the most wonderful experience with the professor and team. Absolutely loved my experience it’s very detailed and they teach you how to write in the three languages. Worth every minute. Great cultural immersion.
The teachers are so kind and lovely. They encourage you to do it even though you could think is too hard. Super recommended!
We had a great time at the calligraphy class. The staff was really friendly and very good at english. Attending the workshop in a small private group (in our case just me and my friend) helped focus on the task and made the experience more relaxing. At the end, we had a few nice self-made souvenirs from Kyoto. I can totally recommend this class.Thanks to the MK team for this nice experience!
