Great. We learn from water interaction during the 20th century: "Conclusion: lessons from the lost rivers in TokyoRivers have been changed by technologies to meet the needs of society in each era. Tokyo's current riparian landscape is informed by a history where lost rivers reflect the urgency of presenting a modem face to the world in preparation for the 1964 Olympics and the necessity of quickly and economically installing sewer systems during the era of rapid economic growth in order to maintain urban health and efficiency.Through Japanese modern history, especially during the economic growth period, Japanese river engineers and planners has pushed segmentalization of river function in the sense of economism or effectiveness. The case of Policy 36 and the decisions which cover the rivers were a final mark of modern river engineering/planning, because the engineers and planners in the committee identified that the function of river is only "sewage."From this Japanese experience, decision in planning should cautious with deep consideration including future perspectives. However, the same cases which cover rivers and convert river channel into sewer drainage are being appeared in other developing countries which are expected changing society's needs and valued in near future. This Japanese history might be a good lessons not only for Japan but also other countries."
