Ciekawe warsztaty japońskiej odmiany batiku zwanej rōketsuzome, gdzie podczas dwugodzinnych zajęć można przygotować swoją unikalną koszulkę, torbę lub ręcznik z malowanym przez uczestników warsztatów wzorem. Materiał z naniesionym za pomocą wosku wzorem, jest następnie barwiony w kąpieli z barwnika indygo. Finalnie trafia do wrzątku, gdzie wosk jest wytapiany pozostawiając białą, nie zafarbowaną tkaninę.
What a wonderful experience was indigo dying with wax at this Arts and Craft Centre. Everybody is very friendly and they help you understand the process very well. You go home with a textile object with a decoration of your own choice.
The best handcraft experience in Kyoto! The owner and his mom are very sweet and we had a great time here making unique items. There are many stencils so you don’t have to be an artist to create something beautiful. Would definitely come again.
Wonderful experience with Yamamoto and Yoko. So patient in sharing the craft, especially for our limited Japanese. A peaceful activity for among the busyness of the city! Beginner friendly with stencils and variety of pieces to choose from. Even with the 2 hour reservation, we were there 3 hours and didn’t feel rushed 💙
What a fun experience! You get to make your own japan souvenir. Lots of options for designs or your can freehand it. If you have something specific in mind, print it out and bring it as an outline. The owners were very happy to help you with your painting technique. You get to dye your shirts and they finish off the final boiling to remove the wax. Would highly recommend
This was one of our favorite craft experiences we’ve ever done! The instructors don’t have the best English but still manage to communicate instructions and will walk around and help you and demonstrate how to do the wax properly.Our reservation was for 2 hours but we ended up staying for around 3 and a half hours but never felt rushed. You can do as many designs on your fabric as you want. The dying process was engaging and fun to watch. There are also some pieces for purchase. For one large and one extra large tshirt it was 7200 yen
This is a TRUE hidden gem in Japan! The owners are incredibly kind and the crafting environment is so relaxed, peaceful. They have many beautifully drawn stencils you can use to trace designs on various fabric products (tapestries, tote bags, curtains). The craftsmen then teaches you how to dye them, and you take your creations home same day. Reasonably priced and gives you a one of a kind souvenir from Japan, plus a unique experience. My boyfriend and I both thoroughly enjoyed it, we will do it every time we visit!

It was a very hot day so an inside activity was just what we needed. We dropped in unannounced, and without a reservation. They had time and space for us and let us join in. IT WAS SO WONDERFUL! The instructors were so kind and patient. I was joined by my kids, 10 year old boy and 12 year old girl. They walked us through the process so patiently. We were there for about 3 hours and left so happy. They were so nice to us the whole time and it was quite enjoyable and affordable given the amount of time and pieces we made. One of the instructors spoke English and the other was so sweet and spoke a tiny bit of English. One of their elders joined us and helped the kids too. It was cute, and a wonderful was had by all. And we got the best souvenirs! I would do this again!
