If someone expects a more special experience in Japan. You should try their cooking lessons. They don’t teach only how to cook Japanese home cooked dishes they teach how to get ingredients in Japan as a tour too. It’s pretty unique. I’m not a good chef but I made rolled sushi :) I got a deeper understanding of Japanese life!!
My friend and I always want to learn about Japanese cooking nothing fancy but regular home cooked food. We were first brought to local shopping street where he introduced various shops to us how he makes his purchases. Then we proceeded their kitchen. My favorite was learning how to make the egg rolls. The whole tour was super exciting!

Ichiho is an excellent guide and teacher. My family wanted a market tour and cooking class combination in Yokohama area and found his class via web search. Touring the market was so much fun and Ichiho took the time to answer our questions and show us local specialties. We tried local fruits, snacks, and other food items. We then went to his home where he showed us how to make rolled egg, sushi, and fried chicken. He explained all the ingredients, the techniques, and after showing us once had us make the food. We ate lunch together and had great conversation. Thank you Ichiho for a fun day and we hope to see you again in the future!
