We spent a truly magical autumn morning with Takuya Shigeta and his mother Toshie at Ihachi Farm, their organic tea plantation. After a warm welcome at their home, we were taken to the factory where Takuya explained the various processes of tea production to us. We admired the beautiful old machinery and the hard work that goes into making their organic single-origin teas. Takuya then took us to their tea platform for a tea tasting. It was spectacular! The pristine air, the lovingly-tended rows of tea plants blanketing the steep slopes, the Pacific Ocean glittering down below, and the exceptional quality of their tea made for a truly moving experience that will stay with us always. We purchased different kinds of tea to take home to family and friends, our hearts full of gratitude for tea farmers like the Shigeta family who pour body and soul into making such superb tea. I cannot recommend this wonderful farm or their teas highly enough!
