Learned so much during this class with Yuko! It was absolutely amazing and can’t wait to make wagashi by myself now and explore even more flavors and designs 🍡
I booked the wagashi making experience with Ms. Yuko Di Stasio, and it was worth every dollar! It was such a fun experience, and the instructor was so patient and lovely overall. The instructions were simple to follow. After we completed the lesson, we got to take it home/eat it at her home along with some matcha and extra treats! She was even kind enough to gift us some snacks to take home after the lesson! It's a once in a lifetime experience to be able to learn this craft in someone's home while also getting travel tips out of it!
We had a fantastic class with Yuko san. The class was held in her home in a quiet neighborhood of Tokyo, with a great view of the Kanda river. We chatted over tea and learned about the cultural significance of mochi. She taught us how to make dango, daifuku, and warabi mochi. They tasted better than any store-bought mochi that we've tried in Japan. We had a great time — would definitely recommend if you're interested in mochi!
We had the most wonderful time making Japanese sweets with Yuko. She is incredibly sweet and patient, and her beautiful home made the experience even more special. Truly unforgettable!
Definitely one of my favourite activity in Japan. Learnt lots from Yuko san as she gave tips on how to make better mochi. We spent much time chatting and I fully enjoyed myself. Her warm hospitality is unforgettable!
Yuko-san, a massive thank you for hosting me for a great session in your beautiful home and accommodating me at such short-notice. Thank you for giving me a cultural education on wagashi and teaching me to make them in an organised, professional yet fun way. I very much enjoyed sampling the sweets after finishing making them, and drinking matcha made the traditional way Thank you also for packing me the remainder of the sweets after l'd had my fill, and for gifting me Japanese snacks. You have made my Japan trip and I hope we get to meet again!
We spent 1 week in Japan and this was one of our favorite experiences. We went with our kids - ages 5, 8 and 10 and they had the best time. We learned about the different types of Japanese sweets and the meaning behind them. Yuko was a lovely woman with tons of knowledge & kindness. We each got to make several mochis & had beautiful green tea. The class is held in her warm, clean and inviting house overlooking cherry blossom trees and a gorgeous park and river. We got to chat with her husband and meet her mom as well, which was so neat for us all. HIGHLY recommend this for anyone.

The Mochi and Nerikiri class that we booked was everything we were expecting and even more: Yuko san is an attentive host and a really good teacher. My friend and I attended the workshop together and it was perfect. Yuko san took the time to provide cultural context about Wagashi and we were able to make a full tray of sweets ourselves, which was very interesting and satisfying. She had prepared a selection of seasonal sweets for our class in advance, which was also a very nice touch. Overall, we had a great time! I highly recommend her classes.
