六地蔵(善養寺)Roku Jizō [Six Jizō] of ZenyojiJizō are guardians who guide souls across the six realms of karmic rebirth (hell, hungry ghosts, beasts, fighting spirits, human, and heaven) to enlightenment.They are protectors of travelers and children.The Six Jizō of Zenyoji each bear an iconic symbol;鶏亀地蔵 (Keiki Jizo) also called 延命地蔵 (Enmei Jizo) holding the Mani Jewel and a staff with six rings (symbolizing the six realms) and warns away small creatures which might be in its path so they won`t get trampled upon,陀羅尼地蔵(だらにじぞう) a wish fulfilling jewel,法印地蔵 (Hoin Jizo) also called 讃龍地蔵 (Sanryu- Jizo) holding scroll,宝性地蔵 (Hosho-Jizo), also known as 合掌地蔵 (Gassho-Jizo) with palms of the hands together,地持地蔵 (Chiji Jizo) also known as 護讃地蔵 (Gosan Jizo) – holding JUZU prayer beads and法性地蔵 (Hosho Jizo), also known as 不休息地蔵 (Fukyu Jizo) with an incense burner.The statues wear vermilion bibs and stand barefoot on lotus flowers.
