This was not just a stay — it felt like being welcomed into a real home in the mountains.Michel and his family are wonderful hosts — warm, caring, and thoughtful. We felt genuinely looked after throughout our stay.The house is a beautifully maintained 150-year-old traditional Japanese home, surrounded by fields, a river, and cedar forests. Peaceful, authentic, and deeply grounding. It is not a modern hotel, but that is precisely what makes the experience so special.Breakfasts were exceptional — we could choose between Western and Japanese, and both were excellent. Fresh, simple, and mostly from their own farm — even our kids loved the vegetables.For our city kids, this was the perfect introduction to rural life — slower, quieter, and deeply beautiful. They truly paused and appreciated it.Sleeping on futons under warm blankets, with the gentle warmth of traditional heaters, felt like stepping into another time — simple, cozy, and surprisingly comfortable.Michel also went above and beyond — taking us up the mountain to see castle ruins and recommending excellent family-run restaurants nearby that we thoroughly enjoyed.We would go back in a heartbeat. ❤️
