Discovering Kakurecha, the "hidden tea" high in the mountains of Shizuoka, was an amazing experience. Our hosts, Masako and Katsuei taught us the heritage and historical importance of Kakurecha. They took us to meet local farmers and to walk in high elevation tea farms. We saw healthy plants, grown naturally in a way that preserves the story of generations. And we savored the most beautiful characteristics of tea - pure, fresh, aromatic and filled with umami. Absolutely delicious. Now, while we wait to visit our friends again, we order tea from the website. You should too!
We had the most memorable day amongst the tea leaves, learning about organic tea farming and experiencing a slice life in a tea village in Umegashima. We weren't quite sure what to expect, but Masako and Katsuei are so generous with their time! They are so passionate about preserving tea leaves and sharing the health benefits. They are so warm and welcoming to all visitors. We loved picking the tea leaves, driving through the different tea farms at sunset, learning about the history of the tea villages and trying out a local restaurant. Umegashima is a special place!!

The only place I get my tea from.I also went on a tea tour to learn more about tea grown in the highest altitude in Japan!The tea tour can be taken between spring and summer.Learned about the different teas, the history of tea and actually got to pick tea leaves.If you are tired of the city, give this tour a try.
お茶摘み体験すごく楽しかったしお茶も美味しかった。他にもいろいろ体験できて充実したツアでしたー。
