千葉県香取郡東庄町の田園風景にある寺院です。
妙幢院は800年以上の仏教伝統を体験できます。
龍神山 慶瀧寺として地域の信仰の中心です。
田園風景が広がる東庄町笹川ろ にある真言宗智山派の寺院です。山門前にこの寺についての詳細な解説板が立っています。驚いたのは観音堂脇に立っている超大型の下総型板碑です。これまでに武蔵型(青石塔婆)等を含め多くの板石塔婆を見て来ましたが、この板碑はとてもインパクトがあるもので、元文3年(1735)銘の板碑です。碑面もユニークなデザインです。造立年代としては、珍しい江戸時代中期の新しい部類のものです。西門の前には、寛保元年(1741)銘の断碑も立っています。
