What the other reviewer neglected to say was that the boarded up building is the old town office. The beautiful new office is directly across from the shopping complex, where you can find a super market, Daiso, Lawson, and a store called Happy Drug. Nakadomari is a great town that is constantly moving forward under it's great leaders.
Not much in this town, especially when you visit in the afternoon in winter since everything closes early at that time. But if you have some spare time there is an Onsen down the road and a very good pastry shop that is usually open.The town office has boarded windows and doesn't look inviting btw. This is the last stop for the special train line from Goshogawara (stove train in winter).
