I attended the 2025 Japanese Language Summer course (Grammar and Conversations). The programme of the study was outstanding, very practical and well structured. Japanese teachers creatively explained grammar and a variety of topics as well as engaged students into conversations that afterwords was useful in a daily life :-) Importantly, the atmosphere at the KAI school was friendly, supportive and just funny. Great adventure in Tokyo. ありいがとうございます。
Very nice school, with expressive and friendly teachers. Attended 2 week long summer course and learned a lot. Wholeheartedly recommend!
Classes were good. Teachers and staffs are always quick to help whenever help was needed. The reception always solves whatever issues or problems I had pretty quick. Overall. I had a great time at this language school.
Kai has a huge place in my O.G. heart. I went here waaaay back in the day, and my goal was to be the first western person the be admitted undergrad to Waseda university's Economics + Political Science Department. I passed the JLPT1 after just a year and a half study in Japan when students taking Japanese majors at Griffith University in Brisbane were passing the JLPT4 after 4 years. I got into Waseda and went on to spend a career working with top level Japanese companies. I can't speak to the current curriculum, but even back in the olden days at Kai, it was designed for westerners who would also put in the work on their own. I worked and socialized only in Japanese and was kanji, JLPT1 goal-driven, and it worked. I wasn't a particularly brilliant student, not shiny and elegant like the Korean students learning Japanese so much quicker, but somehow with the help of the Kai teachers and teaching and knowing what my goal was, I did what I set out to. I loved my teachers who are probably retired by now, and my classmates were wonderful. I will always have a warm place in me heart for Kai and Shin Okubo.
Je recommande très fortement cette école.Les professeurs sont excellents pour la majorité, les supports pédagogiques sont très bien faits (entre iPad et papier) et je pense que la majorité des élèves qui fréquente cet établissement est sympathique.J'ai eu un petit peu de mal avec l'administration à un moment de ma scolarité mais dans l'ensemble tout s'est quand même très bien passé.Si vous voulez apprendre le japonais, je vous recommande de vous y inscrire sans tarder et de compléter votre enseignement par de la discussion avec des natifs en dehors des cours.
I took a month-long conversation course at KAI.Since there were very few students in the class, I had more opportunities to practice, and at the same time, I had some space to communicate with my classmates, which was a great experience for me.The teacher was very attentive and prepared daily assignments for review even though it was a conversational class. There were also weekly quizzes to make sure that I was keeping up with the content.At the end of the month-long course, there was a small oral report to check if the level was satisfactory.Thank you very much for your care for the past month. If I have the chance, I hope to come back to KAI to study Japanese again!P.S. The staff are lovely too! ^_^
The school integrated the use of technology such as iPad for the general courses. Classes can be intensive but the teachers and staff are always ready to help. The students studying there come from many different countries and so it’s a good place to make friends with people of diverse age and backgrounds.

周辺のオススメ
I studied at KAI school back in 2022 for one term from the beginner’s level and didn’t continue because of work. I since then tried other schools and can compare now. I really like that this school got system in place: kanji, grammar, speaking, reading, and listening are nicely distributed throughout the week, teaching is balanced with both rigor and communication skills practice. Students contacts, schedules, materials are friendly and well-organized. All the teachers I had were very professional. The only thing I struggled with a bit was that the school’s textbooks were on iPad, I prefer to make handwritten notes. But the practice sheets and booklets were provided as a hard copy. Whatever work was assigned was thoroughly checked and returned, it really helped me progress faster. The paper checking itself wasn’t done during the class time. I later learned it is the case in some language schools but I didn’t like it as it takes away from the students’ learning time.Overall, I can recommend this school to the beginner learners. I am not sure about other levels as I haven’t done it there.
