Hidden Culinary Excellence – A Must-Visit for Food Lovers! As a passionate foodie who’s explored many unique places across continents, I always try to keep my expectations grounded—never too high, but certainly never below basic quality standards. However, when the name comes with the tag of "Trainers," expectations naturally rise a little higher.I recently had the pleasure of visiting TCS (Tokyo Culinary & Confectionery Arts Academy), which has quietly opened its doors to the public for a limited number of diners. It offers an unlabeled but truly star-quality dining experience—and all at an incredibly pocket-friendly price.I visited twice for lunch and tried both the:1, Traditional Japanese Lunch, and2, Continental LunchEach meal is priced between ¥1,500 to ¥1,800, which is almost unbelievable considering the variety, taste, and quality offered.Traditional Japanese Lunch:This was the real highlight. The set included:1 appetizer7 assorted side dishes1 traditional soup1 warm salad made from local radish1 main course (a stunning Tendon rice bowl)Japanese tea (Hojicha)Ice cream and a freshly baked cookieThat’s 14 beautifully crafted items for just ¥1,500!From the moment we stepped into the building, the experience felt thoughtful and professional. The staff (student trainees) warmly guided us to the downstairs training restaurant (an elevator is available if needed). Upon entering, we were welcomed by the entire team with the signature hospitality that Japanese dining is known for.Service began with warm wet towels, followed by chilled water and a hot cup of Hojicha tea. The appetizer arrived promptly, and just as I expected the main course next, a student brought a trolley filled with beautifully plated side dishes—seven in total, each with unique flavors and textures. The main course, Tendon, was served with perfect timing. The rice bowl was topped with a large, round tempura of mixed vegetables and prawns, along with:A juicy, sweet fish tempuraKinoko (Japanese mushrooms)Nasu (eggplant)Kabucha (pumpkin). Every item was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The tempura was crispy yet light, and the rice was fluffy and fragrant.Though I was quite full—thanks to a big breakfast—I couldn’t skip dessert. And I’m glad I didn’t! They served Azuki bean ice cream with a freshly baked Matcha cookie that absolutely stole the show. I’ve never seen such a vibrant, glittery green cookie—it was rich in flavor and simply unforgettable.Staff & Service:The service was outstanding—professional, warm, and efficient. It was clear that the teachers and management have worked hard to train these students to deliver top-notch hospitality and culinary skills.
