I had my hair done at Room 806 in late July 2025. I must admit it was my first time and the owner had some communication mishaps at first. We had to reschedule my appointment as a result.Once I got a seat with a stylist though, I received the best hairstyle of my whole time in Japan (where I lived for three years). I can guarantee that the owner and stylists care deeply about good quality service and won't disappoint.The vibe of the shop is great for anyone who is black or interested in black/African culture. The staff are friendly and diverse. The shop offers good quality hair products for purchase, which I did buy.If you have afro-textured hair, I can't recommend this shop enough.
Super clean cut—really impressed with the precision and care.Lights were out in the second-floor hallway, which threw me off for a sec—but inside, it was all good. The space felt calm, the service was on point, and I left feeling fresh. Black-owned and worth supporting—definitely coming back. 4 stars for the lack of conversation. As another person of color I thought we would have chatted a bit. Not a big deal though
On everything I love, this was the best cut I've had in years, they got me right. The owner is from Ghana and my barber was from Nigeria. The environment was chill, clean, welcoming and comfortable. They taught me some great things and even gave me some food recommendations. If you blackity Black and looking for someone that'll do you right, this the spot.
Room 806 is the real deal! A Black-owned barbershop right in the heart of Tokyo, and they brought that same precision and pride you expect back home. My fade and line-up were crisp—dude had me feeling fresh. It’s more than just a cut, it’s a whole vibe. If you're Black and in Japan looking for someone who really understands your hair—this is where you go. Highly recommend!
The best loctician on this side of the world!!! He started my locs and in 3 1/2 years they are healthy and beautiful. I often get compliments even from locticians when I go to the states. How it started vs how it’s going!!
Honestly, visiting Room 806 was one of my highlights visiting Japan. As a black woman who left her hair care products at home, there isn’t any selection for Afro hair in Japan readily available. I thought getting a blowout would be my best bet since I would be traveling for two weeks and it was the best decision I made. Visiting the salon made me feel right at home. The owner and Iko (my stylist) were there and they were so warm and welcoming the entire time. I left looking like a million bucks and feeling it too. If you’re questioning whether or not to go, my answer is go, go, go!!!
I was a tourist in need of a haircut and they were simply amazing and friendly.
I was initally skeptical about visiting the salon but after reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. Got a silk press and cut and I was very satisfied with the service the atmosphere and the results. Would definitely recommend visiting.
You won't be disappointed i get my braids done monthly here trust there is no place like Room 806 in tokyo. By the way you need an appointment before you go.
