御庄本陣跡の特徴
山陽道沿いの御庄本陣跡は歴史を感じるスポットです。
何もない静けさの中で心を落ち着けられます。
岩国市で歴史を肌で感じられる隠れた名所です。
今は何もない。というか、人んち。
錦川の増水による川止め等で止宿の必要が生じた際の「間の宿」として利用された。案内板等は残っておらず、一見してここが本陣とは分からない。

I visited the Misho Main Camp remains with my wife in the mid morning of a warm day in late winter. Wake up early to go to a famous bagel store in Misho. Even if it is early in the morning, the coffee I make to take with us makes me happy, and the drawings she draws on the coffee cups make me smile. Even if the bagel store has a holiday, Misho is filled with opportunities to appreciate the old Sanyo road!Walk to the site of the Misho Main Camp. It seems that when the Sanyo road was the main method of travel, the road bent away from the Nishiki river to avoid the frequent flooding, and the town of Misho was a common stopping point for travelers on the Sanyo. When I think of the famous daimyo, poets, holy men, and the many travellers who passed this way, consider it slowly. Many of them may have stayed at an inn here, enjoyed a meal, worried about the business they had to complete at the end of their travel, or simply enjoyed a good night's rest. Maybe in the morning, they wondered if they had time to visit the Kintaikyo . . .Unfortuntately, all that remains is an old stone lantern. The site does not have any old buildings or inns, and there is not even an information sign to tell the history of the Misho Main Camp. When I think that one day the story of this area may fade away . . . well, I think the town of Misho should post a sign so that the history can continue to be known by Sanyo lovers.Please pause by the lantern, and take it in slowly.Thank you for your consideration.
