This is one of the most beautiful frame shops I’ve ever visited. The framers here study traditional gold leaf and European framing techniques, and the craftsmanship is exquisite—truly works of art in themselves. They often have smaller frames that are perfect to take home as a meaningful piece of Kyoto. The shopkeepers are wonderfully kind and patient, and though they don’t ship custom orders internationally, they have two charming shops right across from each other, conveniently next to the landmark Smart Coffee. A real treasure in Kyoto.
