Being a foreigner, it is difficult to find a good place for a haircut. Recommendations on the Internet are often in Japanese. Sometimes, some hairdressers tend to go the easiest way without much thought of my preferences. The language barrier often gets in the way. I once showed a hair stylist a photo and immediately shook her head. However, I got lucky with this salon’s owner. He took his time asking me what kind of hairstyle I like and after looking at some pictures I brought for reference, he and I exchanged some ideas. He cut my hair without shampooing it, making it easy for me to visualize my hair. Then afterwards he shampooed my hair and gave me a massage. It was my first time there, but I had a wonderful time conversing with him as he did everything with my hair. The more he cut, the more I’m liking what I see in the mirror. I went home satisfied and confident that I can maintain this look for the coming days. I now understand why his customers stayed with him for a long time. He’s a keeper. His shop has been around for 12 years, and I wish him many more decades of doing what he loves doing the most.
