京都植物園中央西側バラ園の先にある沈床花壇、地面を掘り下げた中心に噴水がある花壇。
深まる秋景色、紅葉が最も美しい時期でした。

映画秘密の花園でsunken gardenという言葉が出てきてその時日本語版でなんと訳すかわからないかったんです。その時ネットや辞書で調べたんだけどね。植物園のマップを見てなるほど沈床庭庭園と言うのかと勉強になりました。時期が早いのかお花はあまり咲いていませんでしたが英国の公園を彷彿とさせる水路もあって、なかなか素的な洋風ガーデンでした。
最も植物園らしい場所。中心に噴水ありその周りを色彩豊かな植物園が派手に彩っている。
2020年12月4日に訪問。植物園で一番きれいな噴水です。鶏頭とマリーゴールドが綺麗に咲いていました。Visited on December 4
