昭和レトロなデザインが目をひく「本郷浄水場」の建物。その前身である「白山浄水場」当時の建築です。白山浄水場と水道山の白山配水場（本郷配水場）の完成は昭和七年(1932)。飯能では初めての上水道整備で、県内でも3番目という先進事業でした。柵越しに眺めるだけですが、細部に凝った造形や遊び心を感じる設計は魅力的。ちょっと修復整備したら見栄えも良くなりそうですが・・近代建築がお好きな方は飯能の散策ついでにぜひぜひ。
