Shokuji Temple, also known as Shokyu-ji, is a historic Buddhist temple that belongs to the Jōdo Shinshū Honganji-ha (Nishi Hongan-ji) sect of Pure Land Buddhism.According to temple records, its origins date back to 1487, when a monk named Entsū founded Entsūdō in Katano. The temple later became a branch of Komyō-ji in Etchū Yatsuo. Over the centuries, it was relocated several times—from Ashiya in Koyahaga to Sanchō in Takayama—and finally, in 1712, it was renamed Shokuji. The current temple building was completed in 1930.Free admission.
町の端のほうにあり、とても静かです。観光スポットではないですが、大きく立派な本殿は迫力があります。
とても厳かな雰囲気のお寺さんです。もう紅葉の時期は終わりかけなので落ち葉がたくさんでしたが、見頃の時期は美しい木々を見ることが出来ます。木々は綺麗に手入れされていました。普段からあまり混み合っていないのでゆっくりと参拝したり、景色を楽しんだり、この場の波動に浸れます。ちょっとした遊具もあるので子供とお散歩しながら遊ぶこともできます。日本人として信仰心を大切にしていきたいですね。子供達にも伝えていきたいです。浄土真宗本願寺派本尊 阿弥陀如来本山 西本願寺最寄駅高山駅から徒歩16分（1.3km）上枝駅から3.6kmバス停大新町４丁目バス停から徒歩3分（160m）

This is an impressive and very beautiful temple tucked away from the normal tourist route. It sits right in the middle of a residential area and has a simple yet very cute play area for children. It is easily missed if you didn't know it was there - definitely a great consideration if you want to experience tranquillity without a hundred of your favourite strangers
