I am located in California and was apprehensive about purchasing expensive items from Hyuga Goban Goishi especially as there isn't much English information about them (and I learned about the company on Reddit).However, my experience was exceedingly positive. The photographs on their web page were accurate, they responded promptly to all my questions, shipped promptly and gave me excellent tracking information. The packaging was very protective (and the items were wrapped more like presents than purchases). The Go board and bowls are exquisite.Highly recommended.(I never review anything, but the experience was so exceptional I felt obliged to.)
I bought a set of go stones, bowls and board from Mr. Kuroki. The transactions are smooth and quick. Very good communication. The stuff arrived quickly and very well packed. Most important is that what I got are so high quality and beautiful with a good price. The one-piece board are extraordinary with even color and beautiful wood grain. I absolutely love it. The bowls are Shimakuwa, which I got it in a decent price. I used saw a " Sailor" pen made of Shimakuwa, which costs couple of thousand CAD. The stones are also clean, beautiful and very well contained in a good quality wood box. Of course, again in a reasonable price. The whole set is so stunning and make me want to practice go everyday.For certain reasons, I paid twice for the items I bought. Mr. Kuroki refunded me right after he received the payment from PayPal. They are definitely honest business selling high quality and authentic Japanese go equipment with a reasonable price.Here I would like to show my appreciation to Mr. Kuroki for his time to answer my questions and his knowledge about the go equipment.Thank you again!Shaomei

I was in search of a tabletop go board that had a vintage feel rather than a brand new one and found one in the Refurbished section of the online store. I decided on CT007 because the price was right and the board looked quite hefty at 8.7cm.I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly my board arrived and also at how heavy the box felt when I brought it into the house. My board was nicely packed and gift-wrapped as well. I couldn't believe my eyes when I finally opened it.Yes, the board is huge...and quite heavy. Although the board was previously owned it was refurbished so it feels brand-new. It is smooth to the touch. The playing surface was redone and the lines feel brand new. But because the board has been around for a while, the color is quite lovely.Thank you, Hyuga GoBoard & Stone. I am so happy with my board. I absolutely love it. It is pictured here after having played through a game of Honinbo Shuei.Update: About a week has passed since I received my board. I absolutely love it! I still cannot believe how beautiful it is and how fortunate I feel to have found it. Hyuga Go Board & Stone was helpful throughout the entire process. I will definitely return the next time I need go equipment. Thanks again!
When I looked for an online shop specializing in go equipment I found Hyuga Go Board and Stone and I am very happy that I did. I was impressed with their wide selection of boards, whether for floor or table, stones made of shells and slate, and various bowls. I eventually settled on a table board set. Shipping was fast and the staff at Hyuga Go Board and Stone was very helpful. My box arrived safe and sound here on the island of Maui and I was pleasantly surprised to find each item nicely wrapped; it was a great touch. The equipment itself is stunning and I am more than happy. I started using it immediately to play through master games during the evenings. Playing through these games of the past on equipment of excellent quality is quite a pleasure and it adds to the overall aesthetic of artistry and beauty. I could not be happier. Thank you!
