Booked here as was rated highly and appeared to accommodate a family of 4 unlike so many places in Japan. Upon arrival expectations were not met - tiny room for 4 people. Photos are deceiving and even sqm didn’t prepare us for what we walked into. We knew rooms would not be expansive given Japanese standards, however, still very squeezy. Toilet in a closet and shower over the floor. Air conditioning did not work and was 3 degrees outside & freezing & couldn’t be fixed. Couldn’t log into netflix as all in japanese. Have to log onto on QR code to find English instructions which are just labels rather than instructions for all the remotes and appliances etc. Gave up and had to find emergency accomodation elsewhere. This not really a hotel by usual standards. If you are on a budget and enjoy caravanning or tiny homes this might be your gig. If you’re claustrophobic, forget it. Front desk support is limited and English is difficult. Front desk had to text the manager for advice and couldn’t process simple transactions. Refused to refund our stay - expected that we would stay elsewhere on New Year’s Eve as they were fully booked (nightmare) and then return for the remaining nights ! What a joke. Stay closer into the city - much better options and vibe.
Absolutely phenomenal stay and experience. We had a room on the ground floor (or first floor as places like Japan & USA say), and it had two beds with two more bunks on top. Tons of sleeping space, also a table and couch with chairs that worked great to eat, get ready, place backpacks. All the beds had plug points, USB ports, and mini lights for a comfortable experience (including the bunks). The bathroom also had a washing machine (powder provided) and the bathroom had a dryer setting (they also provided a clothes pin hanger which was perfect).||The hotel's main entrance is in this quaint alley but the back entrance opens to the main road, so it's not hard to find either way. It was a short 5-7 min ride in a taxi from Kyoto Station. But there are bus stops less than 5 mins by walk to get around Kyoto, as well as subway stations (for reference, we used a single bus to get to Kiyomizu-dera in a few stops, and the train station in front of the next door art school took us to Fushimi Inari in less than 30 mins of a train ride.) We got around Kyoto only by local trains and buses and everything is well interconnected, so even if you're hopping around, you can be assured the first/last stops are less than 5 min from the stay.||Do be mindful that there's the occasional Pasmo card that might be Tokyo-locked so just double check once at a subway station to see if it works (the ticket office can help). On the bus, be ready with cash (the machine gives change but the highest accepted is a 1000 note) to pay if you're unsure your IC card will work (it's a 230 flat fee in Kyoto buses, per bus ride taken, so like 460 if you hop a bus; for the same reason, only tap your IC on exit not entry since it's a flat fare). ||The hotel's USP was definitely the dining room. Aside from the delicious breakfast, their drinks machine (for soda, juices, coffee, and tea) is almost always open (closed for a few hours in the middle of the night, and for 1 hour or so just after breakfast) to grab a drink. There's also a vending machine. There was a very cute map in the dining area where you can add a sticker of where you're from, and I think such personal touches elevate the stay experience. I will definitely recommend this stay for others.
Tout était parfait. L'offre last minute était super intéressante.
Overall a great stay! Location is nice, quiet yet accessible, just that it’s equally far from both nearest Keihan Main Line stations, so when you’re exhausted after the day, the walk is a little long. Staff were warm and welcoming, and the room felt a little bigger than what you get elsewhere. Everything was catered for. Didn’t get to try their breakfast but it looked really popular. Would recommend, oh and don’t forget to catch the sunset from their rooftop terrace!
We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights with breakfast included. Breakfast was pretty honest, a bit western style. The room was clean, spacious, with small kitchenette and washing machine. The hotel is quite well located and we could easily find places to have dinner and visit.Besides that, I would love to say that the reception were really helpful specially a lady and Jef. Jef helped me recover something really precious that I lost on a previous hotel. He was really kind to call for me and ask for my item and have it even shipped to my next hotel. Many thanks for that, my gratitude will be eternal!
We have truly loved our experience at this hotel. The room was spacious and clean and had all amenities we might need. We were on the top floor and had a west facing balcony overlooking the river and a "secret" balcony on the north side of the building. The beds were comfortable and fresh towels were provided every day. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. Walking distance to Higashiyama Ward and multiple temples and museums. The local train was a few blocks away and Kyoto Station was about a 30min walk.Breakfast is provided every day and includes cereal, yogurt/granola, salad, pancakes, croissants, eggs, and sausage. Can't say enough good things about our stay!
