OK this is not the most instagrammable shop in Uji but I just had the most delicious matcha latte I’ve ever had in my life. I have no idea why but I cannot drink matcha in California anymore since visiting Japan. I dont know how this compares to other shops in Uji but if you buy here you can feel good supporting the cutest little old couple that run the shop. 🍵
This is such a beautiful place to have a little snack and tea. The couple that runs the shop is incredible and they are so amazing. They are such fans of Canada and they have amazing quality organic green tea. They also grow everything themselves and make their own chopsticks! Such a beautiful experience overall I highly recommend coming here and supporting this local couple.
This cafe had a grandma and a grandpa as the 2 main staff, which was a sign that this place offered good local food/drink and travellers should trust. I came cross it as I noticed they were selling sweet strawberries. I didn't know this was a coffee shop until now. If i did i would definitely try some matcha here.The strawberries were superrr delicious! At first I thought all Japanese strawberries were like that, but turned out their strawberries were exceptionally delicious, because we tried other strawberries in Kiyomizu with much expensive price and they were a disappointment 🙎🏻♀️
They sell organic matcha and there’s English explanations. Owner is very nice. Cute store to buy from.

This shop felt like a small mom and pop matcha store, with the pop being the one who actually makes the matcha. The atmosphere felt a bit dense because the guy kind of just stared while I was looking around, so it felt a little pressured. But it was still very humbling and they had a lot of different matcha products. I ended up getting their number one selling matcha tin because I wanted to support a more local store.
This is a most delightful stop for a little drink! The owners are so kind and hospitable. Choose from an assortment of coffee, matcha, and other drinks. Something for everyone! There is also a little store with matcha, fresh fruits and vegetables, jams, and even local honey.Our translator app (Japanese to English) wasn't working with the menu so the owner helped us a fair bit.My matcha latte with absolutely delicious. Probably the best I've ever had.We will come back next time!
