初めて町屋に宿泊しましたが、大正解でした！扉を開けた瞬間、ふわっと広がる畳の香り…まるでタイムスリップしたような感覚に。京都にはよく行きますが、ここまで元の姿を大切に残した町屋は貴重です。全室畳敷きで、昔ながらの雰囲気を生かしつつ快適にリノベーションされています。化学物質過敏症の方でも安心して泊まれるそうで、オーナーさんの清掃は本当に行き届いており、とても清潔感があります。最寄りは京都嵯峨野線の円町駅。二条城など観光スポットにも近く、無料レンタサイクルまで完備！おかげで観光がぐっと楽になりました。さらに、すぐ横にはオーナーさんのお店があり、世界中の豆やスパイスが並んでいてワクワクします。何より心を打たれたのは、「次世代に京都の町屋を残したい」というオーナーさんの熱い思い。京都に泊まるなら、絶対またここを選びます！It was my first time staying in a traditional Kyoto machiya, and it couldn’t have been better!The moment I opened the door, the soothing scent of fresh tatami mats filled the air—it felt like stepping back in time. I visit Kyoto often, but it’s rare to find a machiya so beautifully preserved in its original form.Every room has tatami flooring, renovated with care to keep the old charm while ensuring modern comfort. The guesthouse is even safe for people with chemical sensitivities, and the owner’s meticulous cleaning keeps everything spotless.It’s conveniently located near Enmachi Station on the JR Sagano Line, with easy access to attractions like Nijo Castle. Guests can also use the free rental bicycles—perfect for sightseeing around Kyoto!Right next door, the owner runs a shop selling beans and spices from around the world—a delightful bonus for food lovers.Most of all, I was deeply moved by the owner’s passion for preserving Kyoto’s machiya for future generations.Whenever I return to Kyoto, this will be my first choice to stay!
