Good little bar, great whisky selection. The negative reviews are probably from Americans who are used to that “HI HOW ARE YOU WHAT CAN I GET YOU?” service style they my be used to. Come here for a nice, quiet whisky. Don't come if you want a TGI Fridays-style menu of sweet cocktails.
A nice, quiet little bar with a pretty good whisky selection. The bartender was pretty nice. He made my gf a tasty Old Fashioned that we asked to be a little sweeter for her.

A modest but the right place to go and try different drinks. Especially whisky's. Japanese of course. The owner is nice and pleasant.
To start this was so welcoming 🙏 a 11 out of ten and I'm a foreigner. wonderful selection of whiskey and a well knowledgeable bartender! this experience made my trip to kyoto and we can't wait to come back.
Wonderful local whiskey bar. Insanely cheap. Hadekazu the owner/bartender is a cool guy and will look after you.

This was definitely our bar highlight of the Kyoto trip. The negative reviews mostly come from tourists that are used to tourist bars that cater to them, you must understand that Kyoto is suffering from overtourism and not everyone sees you as their savior if you enter their bar. We actually did not have a problem at all, had a few drinks, admired the bartenders Gundam collection and talked a bit in our broken Japanese and then went on our way. It's quite easy actually if you are not loud and obnoxious and have some respect. ありがとうございました！
