It was such a wonderful experience since I'm really into tea culture in Japan.I love matcha in general and am obsessed with the history behind it and all. So I could see the differences and similarities between Sencha and Matcha. The taste of Sencha and Gyokuro have been totally different from the ones I've tasted in my life that got me shocked. This experience had me think I would like to appreciate more for what I can have now (I was drinking sencha in a way that is not praised lol) and take a moment to enjoy it.Thank you so much, Izo san for the opportunity!
I had a wonderful experience learning about Sencha tea in Kyoto. Before the tea experience, we learned about the history of tea, including how tea leaves are processed in many different ways. We also learned how tea was once regarded as medicine for people of high status, and how tea culture later became closely connected with the samurai class. As tea ceremony developed, the utensils became more elaborate and expensive, and manners and negotiations became important parts of the culture. Sencha developed from a desire to appreciate the original taste of tea itself.I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to learn not only about Japanese tea, but also about Japanese culture and ways of seeing the world.
Through the experience, we learnt how to extract the aromatic and flavorful sencha. The sensei also taught us the beautiful manner of tea ceremony; the way to appreciate the whole atmosphere.Thank you very much!!!
A Wonderful and Unique Tea Ceremony ExperienceWe had the wonderful opportunity to experience both Sencha and Gyokuro tea ceremonies, and it was truly a memorable experience.Matcha tea ceremonies are quite easy to find in Japan, but Sencha and Gyokuro ceremonies are much less common, so we were especially excited to have the chance to experience them.At the beginning of the ceremony, we learned about the differences between Matcha and Sencha, as well as the history and traditions behind these tea ceremonies. We then enjoyed the beautiful tea utensils, the elegant and graceful tea preparation, and, of course, the wonderful taste of both Sencha and Gyokuro.Sencha is much more commonly enjoyed in everyday life than Matcha, so it was especially interesting and useful to learn how to brew and enjoy Sencha in the best way. What we loved most was that the experience was not only about tea. We also learned how to slow down, focus on the present moment, and appreciate the aroma, taste, and subtle beauty of the tea.It was a peaceful, elegant, and meaningful experience that allowed us to appreciate Japanese tea culture on a deeper level.Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience something beyond the usual Matcha tea ceremony!
I experienced sencha tea for the first time. At first, I thought it would be difficult, but everything was explained clearly and easy to understand.Even though I was in the present day, it felt like I was able to forget everything and travel back to the past. It was a very special and peaceful experience.
I feel this is a genuine tea experience that truly nourishes the soul.I had the opportunity to try a unique form of “sencha-do” (the way of steeped green tea)in a room within a building near the station—a space artfully created using various Japanese-style furnishings and utensils (with seating provided on chairs).I enjoyed a pleasant conversation with the host in an intimate setting.I get to taste two different types of tea, served in small portions that make it easy for anyone to try.you can savor the essence of the tea in every concentrated drop.It was a fascinating experience—a time to calmly center one’s spirit through tea. There is a certain allure to traditional culture that has been forgotten in modern times. I want not only people from abroad but also Japanese people themselves to experience it.
The class offered by Mr. Ichikawa was a wonderfully relaxing experience. Despite being located amid the hustle and bustle of central Kyoto, the space somehow felt remarkably peaceful and serene. While matcha is internationally famous, Sencha-do (the Way of Sencha) is a much rarer experience—even for many Japanese people. Experiencing this unique tradition while in Japan will give you a genuinely authentic glimpse into Japanese culture. If you’re considering it, I’d definitely recommend booking this experience!
If you enjoy learning about Japanese tea culture and history, take a break from the heat and stop by! The owner is especially knowledge and was able to communicate well in English making it especially meaningful for tourists visiting.

This tea experience was incredible!! Both types of tea had a unique character in flavor and ceremony which was really interesting. The combination of mindfulness of practice and learning about the teas made the time fly by. Such an amazing respite from the hustle of traveling.
