中仙道のハイキング途中に立ち寄れる見どころです。

馬籠宿と妻籠宿の間にある馬籠峠に近い一石栃立場茶屋の枝垂れ桜が満開でした。今年は、昨年より一週間ほど早いです。外国の方も大勢みえました。管理人の妻籠を愛する会の方にお聞きしたところ、昨年よりも多いと仰っていました。今日は400人にも到達しそうだとも。日本人のシルバー層も増えているそうです。色々な国から来た旅人が、楽しそうに談笑して桜を愛でていて、とても平和な光景でした。ここ、一石栃には白木改番所跡あります。最初妻籠宿にあった白木改番所は、後に馬籠峠に近い一石栃に移され、明治２年まで、木曽五木など伐採禁止木の出荷統制を行ってきました。ここには立場茶屋の遺構が残っています。The weeping cherry tree at the Isshoku Tochi teahouse, near Magome Pass between Magome-juku and Tsumago-juku, is in full bloom. Originally located in Tsumago-juku, it was later moved to Ichikokutochi near Magome Pass. Until 1869, it controlled the shipment of protected timber such as the Kiso Five Trees. Remains of the old teahouse still exist here.
