Was just strolling by and was taken in by Fuji-san’s son-in-law to let us see the knives they had available in our price range. He knows enough English to help answer all our questions, and he was very understanding and helped find the best blades for us. He explained to us the differences between the k-tip santoku and the regular santoku. He showed us why Bantus are expensive and explain material differences (carbon steel vs stainless steel). If you are a chef, you must come to this legendary Sakai knife company.
Very friendly service! They took us in and showed us the shop and tools. Had enough English to assist non Japanese speakers and had a great selection of quality knives for all budgets. Great experience for those interested in Japanese knife making
切り付ペティを求めました。堺鍛冶屋包丁から検索して家族で鍛造されてるので、とても希少だと注文して、電話対応も温かみがあって届いた包丁を見て鋼の美しさ、柄もお洒落で重厚感。切れ味も抜群にまだまだ素敵な包丁がありましたので次回も楽しみにしています。
Eerst waren we langs het museum gegaan en daar zag ik al messen van deze blacksmit, die vonden we allebei heel mooi. Zijn er daar ook achter gekomen dat de werkplaats op loopafstand is. Zijn er natuurlijk naar toe gegaan en hebben daar 2 messen gekocht. Super vriendelijke man en we vonden het een super leuke ervaring om in de werkplaats te mogen kijken van zo'n ervaren blacksmith.
I chose one of their knives at the Museum. The owner came to the museum and picked me up with my wife and three children and drove us here to this shop. He then engraved the knives I chose with my last name. Afterwards he drove us to the train station. He is an incredibly kind and talented man and we’ll be back!
