I had a great experience learning snowboarding with Tristan. He is a very good instructor who explains everything clearly and is extremely patient. As a beginner, I really appreciated how supportive and encouraging he was throughout the lessons. Within just three lessons, I was able to do heel to toe and toe to heel edge , which I didn’t expect to achieve so quickly. Highly recommend Tristan to anyone who wants to learn snowboarding.

I had a fantastic experience with Hakuba Snow Sports, and I truly can’t think of a better ski school in the region.Before booking, I actually contacted three other ski schools in Hakuba. One didn’t provide pickup service, another had extremely high pricing, and a third never responded at all. Compared to those experiences, Hakuba Snow Sports stood out immediately. Their pricing is very reasonable, they provide free pickup and drop-off for full-day lessons, and their communication is excellent and responsive.Both Simon and Daniel were incredibly helpful throughout the booking process. They were very communicative and thoughtful, and Simon even pointed out that it would be too rushed for me to take an afternoon lesson on the same day I arrived—something none of the other schools mentioned. That level of honesty and care really stood out.My instructor Harry was outstanding. He is very analytical and works especially well with students like me who think a lot about technique. He didn’t just point out what needed improvement—he explained it in a way that made sense to my analytical mind and then helped me drill the skills repeatedly until they really stuck.At times the drills might feel repetitive, especially compared to some instructors I’ve had before who were more focused on exploring the mountain. But Harry was completely focused on building the right fundamentals. The real payoff came later—about a month after the lesson, I realized that runs that felt difficult the year before had suddenly become easy. I could clearly remember the techniques he taught me and apply them with confidence.That kind of lasting improvement is the mark of a truly great instructor.Overall, excellent communication, fair pricing, convenient pickup service, and truly high-quality instruction. I would absolutely recommend Hakuba Snow Sports to anyone looking to improve their skiing in Hakuba.

Absolutely loved learning from the best ski instructors - I highly recommend requesting for Matisse and Jeppe!! I started with a level 3 adult group lesson with Matisse as a nervous beginner skier; I appreciate how she made my session so fun to the point where I felt more confident and comfortable skiing. I moved up to level 4 and had an adult group lesson with Jeppe. I appreciate him teaching helpful drills that totally clicked for me.Both instructors were extremely knowledgeable, patient, observant, kind, and generous with showing care and giving helpful feedback. I loved my initial group lessons with Matisse and Jeppe so much that I also booked private lessons with each of them. I can’t believe how fast I’ve progressed in just a few days - I feel more confident, excited, and more attuned to how I’m skiing. So grateful for the BEST experiences with them!!! 1000/10 would recommend.

This private ski lesson experience in Hakuba deserves a full five stars! My friend and I chose a private lesson with instructor Anders. From booking and payment to pickup and drop-off, the instructions were clear, and the process was seamless with no issues whatsoever. The shuttle service was very considerate, allowing us to commute to and from the slopes easily and focus entirely on the skiing.Most of all, credit goes to our instructor, Anders. He was extremely professional and observant, always spotting the subtle flaws in our movements and offering those "spot-on" small tips rather than generic advice. It was these specific, precise pointers that helped us fine-tune our techniques quickly, and the progress felt tangible. With his guidance, we successfully challenged the red runs and gained tremendous confidence!For anyone looking to efficiently improve their skiing skills in Hakuba, especially those wanting to tackle more challenging slopes, choosing a private lesson at Hakuba Snow Sports School, and particularly getting a coach like Anders, is absolutely the right choice. Second time coming back to this school !The team is so lovely with a really good energy!This time i brought a group of friends with me.Daniel helped organize lessons for my group and he made sure we had the best time learning ! Each of us did a private lessons and it was definitely worth it! On day 3 we were able to enjoy the slope all together!George is an excellent teacher, very encouraging with great technique and clear teaching. As a beginner, i think His teaching method brought a lot of improvement to my skiing. I also did a private lesson where he took me to Iwatake to explore the slopes, and it was an amazing experience.Highly recommend!

I hadn’t snowboarded in 18 years as moved to Australia but after a few hours with Tristan I was swooshing down the slopes like old times. We had wonderful 2.5 days with the school. It’s my 7-year-old girl’s first time and so I sent her to group lessons starting from level 1. She left Hakuba finishing level 2, learnt how to get on and off the chair lift on her own and could slide down the Iimori slope (without poles). Her instructors (Sho, Josh, Tim) were all very patient with the kids, and they went in groups of no more than 6. She joined full day lessons which included lunch, I checked on them at the restaurant and the kids were happy and the lunch went well.I took adult group lesson level 2 on our first afternoon here with Matthew (Australian coach), we went in a group of 5, although our skills varied the coach handled us quite ok and I managed to pick up toe side downhill which was great. The next 2 days my friend and I went on private lessons with Matt (British coach) who was very good as well, he explained the techniques very clearly and changed methodology when I couldn’t do things in one approach. Smart coach. I left Hakuba mastering my heel side turn and started on toe side turn.If you sign up for private lesson, your coach will use company car to pick you up from hotel which was a very helpful service. After class, the school also offers free shuttle buses to various locations (eg Escal Plaza) which is convenient and less crowded than the free public bus. Doug at the school office was very friendly and helpful, we found out a lot of information from him.Things to note: 1) better to bring cash, there is service charge to pay by credit cards, 2) you need to buy your own lift tickets, come with tickets before the class, 3) there is family lift tickets which is better deal, 4) even if you book online, arrive early to sign in with the school office, 5) coach may decide to upgrade or downgrade you according to your skills level.

Great bunch of people, would highly recomend this school. My husband and me never skied before and we were late for our full day class on the 1st day. The guy in the office was understanding, he put us with Shotoro who was so good, took us gently through the basic to more advanced staff. After another full day lesson I was allocated with Tim (at Level 4 ) who was very knowledgeable and helpful, very kind and understanding. My husband had a different instructor for his lesson and he was also very happy with his instructor. All the instructors seem to be very good, focusesd on their clients and very experienced. I would highlt recommend this school .

We had full days lesson with Hakuba Snow School Sports with Alon. He was a great ski instructor, very patient with us as it was our first time skiing. He also motivated throughout the day and was very encouraging! At the end of the day we could ski independently on the slopes which was pretty amazing considering it was our very first time! Thank you Alon - great job! Anyone of you who wanna ski instructor, you must look for Alon!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our ski lessons in Hakuba. All the instructors were friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging and the school was run very efficiently. My brother and I had Alon who was extremely patient, funny and very good at explaining techniques and how we could improve. Having not skied for several years it was exactly what we needed, would definitely recommend.
