Known as Miyagi Mui, this is a religious site in the hills above Oku, and is accessible by concrete stairways from the village below. The stairs weren't counted but, on a hot and steamy day, the climb will leave you huffing and puffing, as if, you'd climbed 100 stairs. A water fountain at the top of the hill, wasn't in working condition so, I recommend bringing your own drinks. There's a clearing or, field surrounded by sacred stones and an Utaki (prayer place) probably used for some sort of worship by locals. A nice view of the ocean below may be seen and provides a decent photo opportunity on clear days. Note: Two trails of steps go up the mountain and, the one closer to the highway was roped-off at the time I visited. Probably due to repairs or, railing being added, this access was closed. The stairs, a bit farther into the village, were open to the public and, it was a minor detour (0ne minute) for those desiring to make the climb. Not, really wheelchair friendly, strollers could be manageable. It's worth the hike and, I'll be returning to try and gain more information. If, nothing else, the visit was worth it, just for the view.
