包丁研いでもらいました。とても良い切れ味です。
山田英夫商店で包丁の修理をお願いしました。少し欠けていた刃も見事に直り、切れ味が驚くほど良くなりました。丁寧で迅速な対応に感動！これからも何かあればぜひお願いしたいと思います。

I scheduled a knife sharpening class with my friend that was the highlight of my entire Japan trip. My friend and I are American, so there was definitely a language barrier, but through google translate and the fact that knife sharpening is a physical activity, we were able to communicate effectively.The shop owner was patient, a good teacher, and definitely a master of his craft. My friend had never sharpened a knife before and came away doing much better than I could have ever taught him. Beyond the sharpening, from which I learned a lot, I deeply enjoyed being in a homey environment and seeing aspects of a craft rarely observable in the United States. At the end of the class, the owner showed us how he engraves knives freehand and gave us each a piece of metal with our names engraved in Japanese. By the way, the whole experience was 2,200 yen!They also carry a wide array of knives at varying costs, including those made in-house.
