I loved my stay here. The guesthouse is simple and quite remote, but extremely peaceful, with beautiful nature all around. The room was traditional japanese style and everything was perfectly clean. I was able to put all my snacks and breakfast items I bought ahead of time in a fridge, and there was coffee and tea available in my room.The owner speaks English and was super kind. He gave me so much advice for the kumano kodo trail and even dropped me off at the beginning of the trail the next morning. I highly recommend it as a great start for the kumano kodo trail. I hope to come back one day!

Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay before starting the Kumano Kodo trail. The places is absolutely beautiful, but the massive plus was Simon who picked us up from the station and dropped us off at the start of the trail! This saved us so much time and helped with our planning. Simon also gave us a free map of the trail which was incredibly helpful! Only slight downside was how thin the walls were to the other bedroom, however for the price this was a very small complaint! Thank you Simon!
Absolutely the most beautiful place you can choose for the starting point of a hike. We were picked up by the friendly owners and taken to the starting point of the Kumano Kodo hike the next day. The rooms were traditionally decorated with love and there were many little details that made this accommodation so special. But the absolute best thing was the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners. English was absolutely no problem and we felt very well taken care of. An absolute recommendation on our part.
1泊2日の貸切で予約しました。道が細く少し迷いましたが、小さな看板を見落とさなければスムーズに着くことが出来ると思います。バーベキューセット(机、椅子、バーベキューコンロ、トング2本、炭、網)をオプションで借りることができます。到着時には全て用意してくださっていたので、スムーズにバーベキューを楽しむことが出来ました。予備の炭や蚊取り線香など、オーナーさんが細やかに気にかけてくださって快適にバーベキューをすることができました。オーナーさんご夫婦の、旦那さんが香港出身とのことで、この日は香港のお菓子であるエッグワッフルを振る舞ってくださいました。ベビーカステラのような味で、優しい甘みがおいしくてあっという間になくなってしまいました。夜は花火をして、天体観測もしました。よく晴れていたので、iPhone12でもはっきりと写るくらい満天の星空と流れ星をみることができました。お風呂とトイレはオーナーさんご夫婦と、他のお客さんがいればそちらも共同になりますが、全然気になりませんでした。古民家を買って改装されたとのことで、とても綺麗にリノベーションされていました。とても親切にして頂き本当に有難かったです。また訪問したいと思います。
宿に向かう途中の道が大変険しいものでした。オーナーに送迎を頼むのもありですが、自力で行く方は明るい時間帯＋運転に慣れてる人をおすすめします。また軽自動車だったから良かったのですが、普通車以上ですと大変かと思います。ナビだと人の家に着いてしまいますのでご注意ください。駐車場が広かったので、ここかな？と勘違いしてしまいやすいです。ナビでもし人の家に着いてしまったら、その先を左に曲がって行くとすぐにゲストハウスがあります。ご参考に。オーナーはとても親切な方で、宿も快適に過ごせました。トイレやお風呂は共同です。洗濯機もあります。
Kumano Winery Guest House is a great place to stay. Set in on a hillside overlooking a valley and the sea beyond it is within easy walking distance of the Kumano Kodo. What makes the stay unique is the owner Giovanni and his wife Yutaka. He was able to pick us up from Tanabe station and each day take us to a start point on the Kumano Kodo and pick us up at the end of the day. However it is the food that has to be the highlight of the stay. Giovanni is a tremendous chef who cooks some of the best food we have ever tasted - worth staying here for this alone. In all a highly recommended stay. Thanks again Giovanni and Yutaka.
