I used this service to help plan my proposal beginning around May of 2025 for a trip in October of 2025. The team was amazing to work with, they were incredibly helpful and insightful. They took ideas I had and helped make them a reality with their knowledge and experience of Tokyo. Maybe a month before, the original location we had planned had to cancel our booking, but they found an even more beautiful and romantic setting for the proposal. They are very talented and have a great eye for building a beautiful scene.One thing I really wanted was a private location to propose that still had a scenic view - a difficult task for such a busy city as Tokyo - but it was no problem for them! It was as if we were the only ones in the city at that moment.I would recommend! They are amazing and a pleasure to work with.
I was a first time visitor to Japan and while I was there I wanted to attend a Sumo match. Imagine my surprise when I realized that the dates that I would be in Tokyo matched with the upcoming Basho!! My next question was how could I get tickets. Well - look no further, Viator was able to get tickets, provide an english speaking guide and feed me a meal!! Unbelievable service! I highly recommend Viator and I give them a five star rating. I will be relying on them on my future visits to Japan!!
I used the Japan Awaits service to book a Sumo Wrestling experience on my most recent visit to Tokyo. I have nothing to say but good things about this; the booking was easy, the communication was top notch, and our guide Koji was wonderful!We had a tour of the arenas surroundings as well as the arena itself. While spectating the match, our guide explained everything that was happening. I don’t speak Japanese, but that was a non-issue since Koji spoke perfect English! I’m happy to say that I left without any questions about the match since Koji was able to answer any of them.I learned so much from this experience and enjoyed it deeply. I highly recommend the Japan Awaits service for arranging your next touring activity.
Our first ever sumo experience was made even better thanks to Koji Kodaka. He spoke English and shared history and fun facts throughout the day. Even though our seats were high up, it was still incredible - just being inside the stadium was an experience in itself. Watching sumo live is truly a once-in-a-lifetime must-do.
We had an awesome time learning about the intricacies of Sumo wrestling and watching the top division tournament while in Nagoya.All this was possible thanks to Mrs. Yoko Oba, our guide from Japan Awaits, who spent time with us sharing incredible details.A lot of the nuances would have fallen by the wayside without her. She gave us comms at the start so that we could remain interconnected as the tournament went on. Highly professional and fun!!
Had a fabulous sumo and dinner tour with Yumi from Japan Awaits. She had a wonderful style of educating the art of sumo and giving everyone a great laugh. Yumi was one of the best guides we have had. She interacted with everyone and ensured we all had a full overview of the sumo tournament. Highly recommended.
We had a half day tour of Nagasaki with Yuko Tabanashi. It was superb. We saw the atomic museum, peace park, Suwa Jinja shrine the spectacle bridge and China town. Yuko was very knowledgeable and the taxi driver added to her knowledge fully recommend this tour to anyone with limited time in Nagasaki.
Had an excellent tour of Nagasaki with Yuki Kato today through Japan Awaits. I was impressed with how well everything was arranged prior, including the preparation and thoughtfulness that Yuki puts in ahead of the tour. Essentially you can customise the tour as you like - my preference was for a mixture of both the photo opportunities (key sights) and historic/cultural aspects I can learn about. The tour as organised delivered these elements and with local knowledge of where to go and when in order to avoid the crowds that come ashore from cruises. There is flexibility on the day of the tour too which is great if you think of something last minute or if you want to take more or less time in one place or another. All in all then, an enjoyable time mixed with moments of reflection and poignancy surrounding the event itself. Thank you Yuki and Japan Awaits.
Thank you so much Japan Awaits team for accepting my last minute booking to attend this Grand Sumo Tournament.Machiko is a friendly, personable and we could all feel her genuine enthusiasm for all things Sumo. We had second floor seats at a distant yet a very clear, unobstructed view on the main/emperor's side. The entire event was fantastic along with Machiko brining us on a short tour of the building and history of Sumo in Japan.Thank you Machiko, Alice and the entire Japan Awaits Team!

We had a full day tour in Tokyo with Masahiko. It was absolutely a magical day! He picked us up at the hotel and we took the Metro all over Tokyo. Our stops included Hamarikyu Park, the Zojoji Temple, and Shunkaen Bonsai Museum. We ate lunch at a noodle restaurant that had room for only four people. The food was fabulous! Our guide helped us navigate the Metro system and a couple of cabs and delivered us back to our hotel! What a great guide and a wonderful day
