I had a great Internship ...

They were very helpful since day one and attentive to any questions or concerns I had. I really enjoyed doing my internship and it helped me a lot with my future career! I really recommend this program to anyone who wishes to come to Japan to get job experience or to get a full-time job!
ICC Consultants were the best. I first contacted them in February 2017 and they helped me find an IT summer internship in Tokyo in less than a month. I spent 3 months in Tokyo, and the internship experience at a Japanese company was simply unforgettable. The placement process is just as explained on the website. They schedule an interview and learn more about you and your studies, they help you prepare a cover letter and resume, and then they will send you an email with a list of potential companies that are within your area of interest. ICC will then schedule an interview with the company for you. ICC seems to enjoy a great reputation in Japan since companies seek out ICC applicants. Once the company agrees to have you as an intern, you're pretty much set to come to Japan. ICC helped me find accommodation with a sharehouse company. It was a really interesting experience of its own as well.ICC was extremely helpful and supportive prior to and throughout my entire 3 months stay in Tokyo. Shortly after arrival, I had a comprehensive orientation session at ICC's office in Shibuya. They talk about the working culture of Japan, tips on fitting in and what to do in emergencies. They also hold a party for interns at least once a month - I met a lot of people from all over the world there and had a great deal of fun.I still keep in touch with them even after returning home, and if I come back to Japan, I'm sure I'll drop by to say hi.
The staffs there were really helpful and always checked out how we were doing when we were having our internship there. I appreciate their fast responses to my emails (I know I'm quite annoying sometimes). I'm glad that they found that company for me, in which the colleagues were super nice to us.
They promise you big opportunities but in the end all they can sell you is an overpriced point in your CV. After they received your money, you will get zero customer service and wait weeks for replies. I had many concerns before signing the contract with ICC but I was promised a great job opportunity or at least new skills I can learn. In the end I was placed in a company that treated me like an office decoration. No interaction, I wasn't given any useful tasks nor did I learn something new. I was basically tasked simple google research in trivial topics. I asked the other employees in the office and they assured me, that every other intern sent by ICC was basically the same as me. 1 employees quit while I was working there due to the office atmosphere and one other employee told me he will do the same as soon as he gets his visa renewed. I mean it says something when your co-worker apologies that you were placed in their company at your first lunch break. Originally I wanted to work for 4 weeks as I was on a budget, but the company I was placed in asked me to work 5 weeks AFTER the placement which means ICC charged me for the additional week even though I already paid. In the end, the company told me that they have no new tasks for me after 4 weeks and ended the internship earlier than planned which means I paid for more than I got in the end. ICC said a refund was impossible. You have no power whatsoever, ICC is not obliged to give do anything after they placed you into your company.Another problem I had was my insurance that is included in ICC package. Even though my internship was scheduled for 5 weeks for which I paid, my insurance policy only covered 4 weeks which I just noticed at the end of the 4th week due to a doctors visit. When I contacted ICC, they apologized but downplayed the fact they basically left me uninsured for 1 week and provided me with a new policy after some mails.Speaking of doctors visits. I became ill during my internship to a point where I had to visit a hospital 2 times within one week. I tried to reach out to ICC as they have an "24 hour emergency service" as part of their offering. I was unable to get in contact with anyone from ICC for 5 days. I sent an Email about me needing a hospital which was answered the week after I send it. I also tried to call the "emergency" phone number (during the day) which no one answered. They also tell you that they will help you with your accommodation and I am sure this is what they do usually but in my case I had no accommodation 2 weeks before I left for Japan. At that point I took it into my own hands and gladly I found an apartment 2 days before my flight. As I mentioned earlier, as soon as they placed you and received the money, the will not provide any further service so make sure everything is arranged BEFORE you pay. When I spoke to ICC about my negative experience after just 2 weeks, they were unable to provide me with a solution. Basically as soon as they received my money, customer service went down. I waited several weeks for mails being answered, even when I send 1-2 reminders. They told me there is nothing they can do about it and they are only responsible for the placement, not for the actual experience. The real reason I chose to write this review here is, however, even though I completed my internship almost THREE MONTHS ago, I never received anything from ICC. They promise you a "certificate" to prove you did an internship but I am still waiting for mine, three months and several emails later. I was told they are "working on it" but how hard is it to print and sign a piece of paper I paid several thousand dollars for?If you want an unpaid internship in Japan, you don't need an intermediary. Just do your research in LinkedIN and send your CV to some companies. It is REALLY easy to get an unpaid internship in Japan, even though ICC and other companies like this try to convince you that it is impossible. It is not. Overall I cannot recommend you to use the service of ICC or Internship in Japan. It is not worth it at all.

ICC were very friendly and helpful in finding an internship opportunity for me in Tokyo. They kept in touch with me during my entire stay and also organised meetups where I could meet other interns and students and make some great connections for the future.
