I noticed that this branch of Shiga bank was garnering a lot of applause from the Japanese for its aesthetic value, the locals of the Higashiyama area in particular. And, it had good reviews on Google map so I thought I'd try it... and... I noticed that compared to some other banks in the area, this bank: - Is definitely pretty- Has a shorter waiting line - The staff is quite friendlier.Of course, this is Shiga bank, not UFJ or SMB, so they will not offer any credit cards, debit cards and other goodies, but to a confused newcomer to Kyoto, being nice and helpful goes a long way. This place was much better than some of the Yuucho banks I found in Kyoto and the closest UFJ in Shogoin. I'd recommend it to any newcomer to Kyoto, even foreigners, if you have a reasonable command of Japanese.
