Impressive. I liked the place for its very short waiting time and friendly lady banker who very kindly helped me open my account. Compared to the UFJ right across the road, this place may be smaller and indeed, Kyoto Bank, a 'Local Bank' is a lot smaller than Mitsubishi UFJ(about 1/20?), a 'Metropolitan Bank', but I found that this bank was much more pleasant and I could get my business done much sooner without waiting aimlessly even when there is no line. My only complaint about this place could be that the security guard looks a bit nervous... definitely not hostile, but he seems to try to look over every customer and what they are doing. I do believe he is trying to help but it's a tad unnerving when you are a gaijin.If there's anything the UFJ bank Shogoin is better than this place, it may be, again, that the UFJ basically provides a debit card that you can conveniently use in Japanese stores like a credit card. That is very big for foreigners for whom it's very very difficult to get a credit card especially within a year of living in Japan, so it isn't fair to ignore that. But if you are not a heavy card-user... or already have a credit card issued from your home country... I recommend this place(or the Shiga Bank in Higashiyama area) to all foreigners living in the vicinity of the Kyoto University area.PS: Oh, and when talking about banks near the Kyodai area, you may need to consider the 'Yuucho' banks, the post offices. There is one in the Hyakumanben area which would be better for the main campus people and another in the hospital for the Medical School people. I have not been to Hyakumanben so I cannot comment, but the hospital branch staff was extremely helpful, definitely on par with Kyoto Bank or Shiga Bank. However, I would not really recommend Yuucho banks for foreigners because there are a few drawbacks to using one such as difficulty of internet banking and resistriction of your area of residence... but I think those belong on the Yuucho reviews so I'll put that there.

ソーシャルディスタンスはされていますが、椅子は４脚しかなく年配の方が多いのに立ちっぱなし状態、5人位のお客さんしかいないのに待ち時間が３０分以上対応も不親切でした。
