Perspective from a foreign tourist visiting (we were driving a rental car). It the first time we needed to fill our hybrid compact car (with such an excellent gas mileage, no wonder we only refilled once, outside of the rental station itself). Not familiar with the system, I needed some assistance. With my limited (and broken) Japanese, I asked one of the workers for help. Despite this being a self-serve station, he was so kind to basically take care of the whole process, while showing to me how to do it. Once again, an example of kindness that makes me want to go to Japan.
