Best way to see the most amazing views around Shikoku is to ride a bike. The safest way is to rent off Cycle Shikoku as we had the security of phone contact 24/7 which was reassuring cycling with my 11yr old daughter. We spent 5 weeks cycling around the island and At no time did we feel unsafe as the Japanese people are incredibly helpful and generous.Only once did we have a slight problem with the bike and although we were across the other side of the island one of the partners drove all the way to us (hrs of driving🙀) to fix the problem. We are regular cyclists and found the bikes so comfortable and durable yet fast that we are on the lookout to purchase the same ones for cycling here in Australia. We finished quite late at night but it seemed no trouble at all for Cycle Shikoku..... they are available all times via phone.Highly recommend. Only back in Australia for a month and planning our return trip to finish seeing all 88 temples. Definitely will hire from these guys again.
