御室88か所巡り (お遍路) ** 88 Temples Pilgrimage Hiking around Ninnaji :!st point of hiking is Reizanji Temple 一番巡礼 : Located just on the back side of ninnaji Temple, there is a hiking trail modeled after the famous pilgrimage route of Kobo daishi in Shikoku island of Japan. There are total of 88 small temples. Each temple have slightly different appearance. This one in Omuro is a part of Ninnaji Temple. According to the history this pilgrimage route was open when a samurai was ordered to bring sand of the pilgrimage site to Ninnaji Temple in 1827. Each temple are enshrined with a small amount of sand mounted on a small dish with 2 types of statue.The entrance of this hiking route is on the west side of Ninnaji. When you reach the highest point of this hiking, you will be rewarded a great panoramic view of Kyoto city.This ritual of visiting 88 temples by hiking is called Henro. Henro 遍路 is the Japanese word for pilgrim.☆ The Length of the hiking course is about 3 km ( about 2 miles )☆ Estimated time to complete the course is 2 to 3 hours.☆ Three observation points to command a nice view of the city.It is said it only takes about 1 hour for experienced person if they just focus on hiking. À partir de ce temple, vous pouvez faire une balade d'environ 30/40 minutes durant laquelle vous croiserez 88 petits pavillons bouddhiques.Cette promenade c'est aussi l'occasion d'une belle vue sur Kyoto et sur les montagnes alentours.Prévoyez une bouteille d'eau s'il fait chaud car il n'y a aucun distributeurs.Bonne balade.
